The George Washington Law School 2010
Well, no one else has put a thread up for this so I might as well. It's a top pick for me along side UCI and UCLA. I ED'd, expecting to not make it in, but figuring what the hey.

Don't worry about it. I went over the suggested length (by a considerable amount) last year and I still got in.Oban wrote:I applied, but if they are anal about PS/DS lengths i'm sure to get dinged

Has anyone gone complete yet? I got an "app received" e-mail a few weeks ago, but nothing since. Applied 10/1.

I applied on 10/6 (part-time, not ED) and got an email saying they received my application. Has anyone received a status checker?

Applied 10/1. Received an "Application Received" email on 10/16. Have not heard anything since then. I don't think they use a status checker.

Wired, do you mind sharing your stats? I'm thinking of applying ED for the chance at the full ride. I love the DC area. Don't think I could afford it otherwise! On one hand, I'm hesitant because it means withdrawing my other apps and committing. But on the other hand, it's a full ride at a great school. I'm conflicted! Going to wait to see where I get in before sending in the app. I heard they don't start reviewing ED apps until after the December deadline and then they review RD.

About to submit the app. Had a lot of fun taking my PS from 960 to 500, too. Still not sure what to do about the 300-word optional, though.

How do you know they won't admit you ED without the full ride?starrydecisus wrote:Wired, do you mind sharing your stats? I'm thinking of applying ED for the chance at the full ride. Edit: Wasn't trying to sound belligerent, just curious. I wasn't considering ED'ing there, so I haven't heard of the ED scholarships until now.

Someone on TLS said they called the admissions office, and they told them as long as the PS is 2 pages or less, the word limit doesn't matter. Maybe you could call just to confirm.

Re: The George Washington Law School 2010
everyone who gets in ED gets a full ride.
Edit: ccs1702, no worries I was pretty shocked when I learned about the Presidential Merit Scholars Program at GW, and it really raised the stakes and my considerations for applying there! I kept trying to find a catch, but I guess the only catch is that they admit much less students ED and are probably a lot pickier. Whereas at other schools, it might be easier to get in ED with lower numbers, I'm guessing GWU is the opposite? Not sure on this, but it seems like it if they're giving a full ride. Maybe a chance to raise their stats? Either way, I wish all schools did this I am so worried about paying for law school!

Yeah they're goal is to lure away candidates who have numbers for the T14 and bind them in. The medians for acceptance under the program were 169 and 3.83.

Yeah, no doubt they're trying to get back into the low 20's after getting shafted by USNWR. I went on LSAC and read the application yesterday and am definitely considering ED'ing. Like you said, though, I don't think it will help me, given that I don't have very spectacular numbers. At worst case, though, I figure they'll just defer me.starrydecisus wrote:everyone who gets in ED gets a full ride.

On another note, has everyone written the optional 300-word PS? I'm struggling to think of something meaningful that I can fit into two paragraphs and that hasn't been covered in my other statement.

Re: The George Washington Law School 2010
I went to the LSAC Law School Forum in September in Miami, and talked a lot with the GWU Representative, especially since I'm strongly considering ED-ing there. She said they don't look at ED apps until after the deadline in Dec. After they review ED apps, then they review RD apps. So I would guess not until Jan.robin600 wrote:Applied for the PT program, haven't heard much but we received your app in like mid october. anybody know when decisions usually come out?

Ok note to self: Don't spend hours worrying about GWU. Worry about GULC and others instead.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
