Good luck to all of those waiting!

email and call them. Then call again in a few days and ask to check your status and they should say you're withdrawn.
i wonder if schools keep them just for their #s like you said..

I thought of this when they WL me as well. I think that you'll be "helping" the school with anything but an acceptance (e: man that sounds odd). The number USNWR uses is "acceptance rate", not "rejection rate". I would not be surprised if WL-withdraw would be counted in the total applications received (ee: and
not accepted).

Ok, well I was using that as an indication that ND isn't exactly broke and if it wanted to, it could use the revenue from the money donated and earmarked specifically for scholarships to buy up students. Obviously they're not going to take the endowment money and straight spend it on scholarships. If you look on LSN for last year, they gave a ton of people scholarships in the $15-20k range (incl. people they wouldn't have to "buy"). It almost feels like a majority of people here have those scholarships. Even I got a half-tuition scholarship from them with my splitter numbers off the WL and I got a pittance from WUSTL. At WUSTL, it's generally either you get the $36k+ scholarships or nothing at all. This allows them to target certain people and buy them up.

umm... wtf i never said that you got all the quotes mixed up.... by deleting quote boxes in the wrong places
please make sure you are quoting the right people.... savetheturtles said that...
My bad, honest mistake.

I asked for an email confirmation that my application had been withdrawn, but haven't heard back. If I have nothing by Monday next week I plan on calling.

Also got the Happy Holidays e-mail. Thought it was pretty cool that they also made reference to Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. Small thing but since its a Catholic school I think its nice they still are considerate of other beliefs. But what about Festivus?!?
Also the Christmas tree is kind of weak its like 15 ft. tall but only 2 ft. around.

I was deeply disappointed by the lack of Festivus also. It might be a deal breaker for me.
Also, that is a weak Christmas tree, an Aluminum pole would look a lot better.

What's a Happy Holidays greeting without a present!? (I bet if you asked the admissions people, they'd say "it's all about the spirit" or something). But I asked Santa for a ND acceptance and I WANT it!!!
(I'd also like a golden goose and a pony. Preferably the goose would be riding on the pony's back. Both wearing adorable little outfits.)
