I have made nothing but bad decisions anytime I've been to IU...Spoon, it doesn't look like you'll let this time be any different. Btw, I never got an email from a student at IU, but I also haven't received most of the other emails you all have received.RMstratosphere wrote:Spoonmanners wrote:Yes, I really have wanted to get some 0L's just as drunk as I got at Nick's on ASD. I vote for Friday night crawl. I'm hoping that we can get current students to take us around.
There were plenty of students there last year. I talked to a bunch of 2L's (currently 3L's) about how lame the 1L's were (or still are). Everyone was awesome, and the after ASD thing at Nick's was a major reason I decided to attend IU. The people are all down to earth, friendly, and easy to get along with. I can say 90% or more of the class is like that.
I think we should make our way to Kilroys after Nick's. Kilroys is usually the start of a line of very bad decisions. It's also about 45 feet from Nick's.
Spoon shall be our leader.

They could be behind. I think there are only 3-5 people who really work in the admissions office, and I would assume they stay pretty busy round this time. Give it a little time, then email them saying you haven't received any emails.Threepeat wrote:

If anyone does have any questions, feel free to PM me or post a message over on the ask a 1L thread. Whatever stops me from studying is great in my book.

Re: In at IU-Bloomington!!!!
Yeah, I got an email and a phone call (which I wasn't home to get) so I responded with a crap load of questions. She did not get back to me for a little over a week (which I also thought was a pretty negative showing on their part) but since she has responded she has been nothing but helpful. She did mention that she was really busy with moot court competitions but still...Zapatero wrote:Got an email from a 3L last week, responded the next day with some questions, and have yet to get a response. Has this happened to anyone?
I didn't get a CA native but did get a transplant student (her title on her business card said "Admissions Fellow" so I did think of her as more an employee rather than volunteer helper. Maybe they caught wind of the fact that IUB was out of the running for you?Veritas wrote:omg I didn't get any emails (prolly cause there's minimal alumns in CA )

I'll be there if I'm accepted, as it'll be on the way home during my cross-country tour.Halibut6 wrote:Welcome to March - only 3.5 weeks until SLD!
This begins week 8 for me so I'm hopeful I hear something soon.

Thank you for the optimism, Halibut. However, 3 1/2 weeks left until SLD and we STILL don't have travel stipend info.Halibut6 wrote:Welcome to March - only 3.5 weeks until SLD!
The answer is yes. I am going to keep whining about this until the situation is resolved.

You must really like IU if you're still considering it after getting >1/2 scholarships at Minnesota and WUSTL.MBZags wrote:I'll be there if I'm accepted, as it'll be on the way home during my cross-country tour.Halibut6 wrote:Welcome to March - only 3.5 weeks until SLD!

I didn't even see that. Whoa. I mean I love IU, but a ride at UIUC would have put them out of contention for me. I had a relatively hard time turning down their $10k they offered me.RMstratosphere wrote:And a full ride at UIUC.Halibut6 wrote:You must really like IU if you're still considering it after getting >1/2 scholarships at Minnesota and WUSTL.MBZags wrote:I'll be there if I'm accepted, as it'll be on the way home during my cross-country tour.Halibut6 wrote:Welcome to March - only 3.5 weeks until SLD!

Re: In at IU-Bloomington!!!!
I like to keep my options open and visit the places that are at least convenient for me. Indiana has dropped on my list, to be sure, but I still want to check it out if I can. Plus, I've only visited one law school so far, and that was over winter break. So I really want to get a sense of the law school atmosphere when students are actually there.
Also, I guess part of me is cautious about a decision because I became fixated on my UG school so early on that I ultimately didn't go to the right school. I don't want to make a hasty decision based only on scholarship money, though I am somewhat hopeful that Indiana will offer me some money.

Re: In at IU-Bloomington!!!!
sooo
I've never been to Indiana, and whenever I tell anyone I'm looking into IU, they tell me to watch Hoosiers
I watched it today. I feel I have a lot more understanding of tiny basketball shorts and farmers, but no more understanding of life in Bloomington. Any other suggestions out there for a good movie or book set in Indiana? Or do tiny basketball shorts and farmers pretty much sum it up?

There are also a number of indie/diy-punk bands from Bloomington. (e.g. Ghost Mice, Murder By Death, and the record label Secretly Canadian)pace4tutti wrote:sooo

I haven't watched Hoosiers, but you should probably watch "Breaking Away". Plenty of shots of town and the school. Sadly, I have yet to get into a turf war with Cutters. I just want to tell someone to stay on their side of townpace4tutti wrote:sooo

Thanks, RM. The thought of turning down a full ride makes me sick, and I definitely feel handcuffed to a "market" salary paying job (assuming those exist in 2013), but it is just too much of an opportunity to pass up.RMstratosphere wrote:Congrats on UVA, dude. I'm so bummed about all the other schools I was admitted to, especially IUB. It just seems like such a great place, and all the people ITT and the 1L thread seem like such cool guys.

Nothing to apologize for - I applied ED to Michigan myself, so obv IU wasn't my first choice at the beginning, either. I'm happy for you and hope you're first in your class at UVA.badwithpseudonyms wrote:Thanks, RM. I was really glad to hear something. EXCEPT that they have to book all the accommodations. I already reserved everything in an attempt to be proactive. I'll be really disappointed if they are unable/unwilling to reimburse directly.Halibut6 wrote:Just got an email from IU Law offering full flight, hotel and ground transportation for Spring Law Day - I am now officially pumped!
