Apparently they only have room in their hearts for one splitter this cycle, and you are that one. Cherish it, please, for the rest of us?

Yup!! I'm a splitter (which Fordham seems to hate) but people with lower LSAT & GPA combos (lower on both fronts) have gotten in... sadnessdakatz wrote:I am in this boat as well. Complete as of 11/2texaspecial88 wrote:Is anyone else's screen still stuck on complete 11/2?

Re: Fordham Waiting Room
waitlisted this morning via status checker- 3.45/165. (applied ft)
but it's not a rejection! that's the way i see it. i'm going to be optimistic and do the show interest thing. from what i gather fordham is big on people showing that they legit want to go there (and i absolutely do) so let the calling/touring/letters begin, right?

i doubt they'll even start looking at waitlists until the end of march. a month or so after their deadline for applications. sometime around then would be my guess... but this is my first cycle so don't take my word for it.rockthelaw wrote:I'm trying to figure out the same thing.sawyerkid wrote:how long do you guys wait before sending a letter of interest??

Re: Fordham Waiting Room
Don't mind at all. Yes I am (I lived in Russia for two years before choosing it as a major). I have one year of WE after undergrad, as well as really good (I'm pretty sure) LOR's. I also have a strong upward grade trend over the last two years, which I think was helpful. Happy to answer any other questions as well...beef wellington wrote:Congratulations, Guy. Ok, so I have a theory. Your profile says your degree GPA is 3.5, correct? I wonder if they're using that instead of your LSDAS one, and therefore you're not really a splitter. Any other splitters who've been WLed or admitted care to refute this for me?guyincognito wrote:Don't mind at all. Yes I am (I lived in Russia for two years before choosing it as a major). Re: Fordham Waiting Room
I'm trying to take a tour next Monday- anyone know how to score a meeting with anyone in admissions? Or if that's too much? I met the Dean at a campus visit at Villanova and expressed interest but I legit want to do anything I can. I'm leaving the east coast at Christmas (I hope temporarily?) so I need to get stuff taken care of ASAP.finalaspects wrote:i doubt they'll even start looking at waitlists until the end of march. a month or so after their deadline for applications. sometime around then would be my guess... but this is my first cycle so don't take my word for it.rockthelaw wrote:I'm trying to figure out the same thing.sawyerkid wrote:how long do you guys wait before sending a letter of interest??

Schools have to use your LSDAS GPA, though they might take it into account if there is a reasonable explanation for a huge difference.NancyBotwin wrote:Ok, so I have a theory. Mine:
Degree: 3.63 (magna cum laude)
LSAC: 3.37 (Illness, semester of Ws recorded as Fs).
(My only LSAT was a 164).
In general, though, it's still very, very early. You guys should know that someone got in on August 21st of this past year. If you have the balls to do what he did, and the heart not to die of waiting, you still have every chance of making this happen.

Re: Fordham Waiting Room
Idk, schools don't like splitters cause we bring down their medians, not because they just have some weird bias...its all about the numbers, the gpa that they have to report is the LSDAS. So I can't really see them "taking" your degree gpa instead to make you not a splitter anymore.
Although, my university gpa is a 3.78 w/a double major and only 3.23 LSDAS and I have the weird in-limbo "in review...recommendation received," so who knows.

I have this image of your app as a Roman gladiator that's been beaten to hell, and the opposing gladiator/adcomm is standing over your app, sword drawn. He looks to the emperor/dean for a "recommendation," a thumbs up or down. The emperor puts your case "under review," wondering whether to "split" you in half, or split the difference and let you live.jk11287 wrote:Idk, schools don't like splitters cause we bring down their medians, not because they just have some weird bias...its all about the numbers, the gpa that they have to report is the LSDAS.
