Now I am very troubled. I'm not sure I can afford it but really want it.

Dean Pless:
Is there something those of us on hold can do to further express our interest in UIUC before a final decision is rendered? Are LOCI, additional recommendations, or "Why Illinois" essays valuable at this point?
Thanks.

IN! 20K a year!! Wasn't really expecting that large of a scholarship so I'm quite excited! 167/3.09. Three acceptances in 24 hours! Time to go celebrate with my friend Jackie D!

Re: Illinois 2010!
For those on hold, there really isn't anything else to do at this point in time. If you didn't write the Why Illinois essay you are certainly welcome to email that to the admissions office and we will add it to your file.
Hold vs. Wait List is really just about timing and I am sorry that I don't do it the same way other schools do and that causes some confusion. All Holds will be reviewed again and will either get Admitted, Denied or asked to be on the Wait List. Once on the Wait List we will give regular updates and may ask once or twice for you to reaffirm your interest in the College.
It is January. A lot of things will happen between now and matriculation in August. I think our Wait List will be slightly bigger than in past years and I am sure that other school's will be as well. You probably get sick of me saying to be patient, but be patient.

Thanks, Dean Pless, for your response and for your patience with over-eager applicants like me. I'll keep my fingers crossed for those of us on hold.

Sly, I'm in Michigan so yeah, OOS, it's just 5 short of full ride a year. I'm assuming with in state, 25 covers most if not all?Oli wrote:I'm in Canada CanadaSlyjoker87 wrote:In with 25/yr.

congrats to others who got in, and keep your head up to those who are still waiting. Applications are a roller coast, it'll come around eventually somewhere.

25/33 instate which is slightly less than 35/40 out of state.

Me too. I guess we are in the 29th batch:fenderjsm88 wrote:I went complete back in early December and just yesterday moved to "in review." How long should it take from here on?
Pless wrote:Decisions will be out this afternoon, over 300 of them.
There won't be any decisions sent out next week (22nd) because I will be at a conference and it is a short week. We will have a large batch of decisions on the 29th and I will post the dates of completion for that batch this afternoon. If you are currently on hold your file will receive its second review the week of February 1 with decisions on February 5th.

I am so impressed and refreshed by the application process at UIUC. It's transparent, efficient, and it seems so much more holistic than most of the schools I've applied to. I love knowing what is REALLY happening with my application and knowing that Dean Pless is sensitive to our plight.
