I looked at the status checker and the decision letter was mailed today. Will that letter also tell me if I get any scholarships, or it that a separate (presumably optional) mailing?

I bet if someone faxed in the ED form tomorrow they would accept it.

I bet if they faxed it April 1st and no decision had been made on that person's file they would accept it, lol.

Sadly, yes. Does UVA guarantee a decision by a certain date?thickfreakness wrote:jawsthegreat wrote:I bet if someone faxed in the ED form tomorrow they would accept it.

On-time applicants are guaranteed a decision by April 15, according to http://www.law.virginia.edu/html/prospe ... #deadlines. Late applications will be accepted without the April 15 guarantee, so it seems that one should still be able to ED until early April or so.jawsthegreat wrote:Sadly, yes. Applied early November. Last status checker update was 12/20... but as long as they're still considering me, I'm not grumbling too loudly!

Hahaha, you probably shouldn't be stressed over it, but from what the AS website says they do suggest looking sooner rather than later. I'm also very antsy and eager. Exercising the restraint to carefully consider my options for so long has given way to relaxed celebration (had lots of stuff up in the air that I wanted to know a resolution to before I got too excited about any place).portena wrote:TheSharklord, thanks! I am going the 19th. I haven't even thought about apartments, and it stresses me out. But it's good stress
Ahahahahaha, I'm going from expensive-ish (Philly) to ridiculously awesomely cheap (C'ville). I can have room(s)!chutzpah wrote:Ah Charlottesville housing. When I was an undergrad a few years ago I lived in an apartment on The Corner for $375 a month and thought that was expensive.

Ugh. It's 3/2, and I've been stuck at PR/D since 11/12. I have a feeling they are going to ride it out all the way until their April 15 deadline. Come on UVA, just pull the trigger!

I'm in the same boat as the above poster (PR/D since 11/25). Hoping that the passing of the ED deadline will lead to new movement.

Haven't been PR/D for that long, but still hoping that we'll get some significant RD movement this week.GeePee wrote:I'm in the same boat as the above poster (PR/D since 11/25). Hoping that the passing of the ED deadline will lead to new movement.

You found an apartment on the Corner for less than $600 a month? Did it not have a bathroom or something? Obviously I have been looking in the wrong places during my four years here.chutzpah wrote:Ah Charlottesville housing. UVA received my ED agreement 15 days ago, and I still haven't heard anything. My numbers aren't good and I'm expecting a waitlist at best. Should I call if I don't hear anything by 4?

Re: UVA 2010, RD
It wasnt a 1BR, it was the big space over Plan 9 (which is now a CVS?!!?) with like 8 bedrooms over two floors. We used to have great parties. I don't think anyone lives there anymore. Not fit for human habitation. But my third year apartment on JPA was under 1,000 for a 3BR. I think a lot of law students live near Barracks and North Grounds, though there are plenty of great places around Cville. Even more if you have a car.whatchootalkinbout wrote:You found an apartment on the Corner for less than $600 a month? Did it not have a bathroom or something? Applied Sunday night. Faxed ED agreement yesterday afternoon. Got email and VM this morning from the Director of Admissions asking me to call. Called back. "Welcome to UVA School of Law, Class of 2013!" That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!

Sending a LOCI out today, been in status checker pergatory for months. I've heard differing opinions on weather or not to say:
While I am certain that the University of Virginia School of Law is where I most want to be, I am not as certain about my financial situation, and I was not yet prepared, on Monday, to turn down the scholarship offer that I received from the University of Michigan Law School. Please understand that I would consider an offer of admission to UVA Law very seriously, with or without a scholarship, although a scholarship would make my decision an easy one.
and include my scholarship offer from Michigan, or to leave this out. Thoughts?

I'd leave it out. Get the acceptance and then worry about the rest.HMG wrote:Sending a LOCI out today, been in status checker pergatory for months. I've heard differing opinions on weather or not to say:

so you would not mention it at all, or mention it and not attach the offer? The reason I put this in was explaining why I agonized over faxing the ED agreement but ultimately decided not to.thickfreakness wrote:I'd leave it out. Anyone else notice how this UVA RD thread has turned into a UVA ED thread? Anyone get any decisions via RD lately?

Do not send this, it doesn't sound good. You haven't even been accepted and you are already trying to pressure them into making a scholly offer?HMG wrote:Sending a LOCI out today, been in status checker pergatory for months. I've heard differing opinions on weather or not to say:

Re: UVA 2010, RD
Don't mention it at all. If you're writing a LOCI don't make excuses for why you didn't ED, just emphasize that you're interested in UVA and hope you'll have the option to attend. Talking money seems a little bit presumptuous and doesn't really convey why you want to attend UVA.HMG wrote:so you would not mention it at all, or mention it and not attach the offer?
