No decision, but I did get another "Happy Holidays" e-mail and the subsequent rapid heartbeat. Glad to hear the school's doing some great things, though.

Same goes for me. Is that a good sign??ec2xs wrote:My status just changed to "Decision Mailed". *Gasp*
The fees in the box also changed to 1st deposit 4/1/2010 with the amount due of $200.00. I imagine this is good? Don't want to speculate.

Re: In at Santa Clara!!
I just got my financial aid letter. I got $17K a year with top 25% requirement. But I got into Cornell and Boston University today as well. I am not withdrawing yet, financial aid is one of the most important factors for me. And I might chicken out about going out of state. I really don't like the top 25% requirement. I think it would put me under too much pressure.

Re: In at Santa Clara!!
Mailman just came. Dropped off $10K for SCU next year. Nice birthday present (Psh: And mammaw, whose card also arrived today, only sent $25).
Question to all the other Emery $$ winners: In addition to top quarter-o'-class requirement, SCU also says I gotta apply for the $ every year. That, to me, suggests that even if I was with it enough to finish i the top quarter, I still might not get the $.
Is this apply-every-year thing common (both at SCU and at other schools)? It's been a long time since UG, and the $ that I got then was just automatically re-awarded when I met the academic requirements; no additionally applications needed.
My stats are a tad lower than the others who've posted their $ awards, so maybe the apply-every-year requirement is just a reflection on that?

You're in! My status checker did the same thing before I was accepted. Figure it would be absurd for them to expect money or a deposit from you if you were not accepted. Congratulations!

Re: In at Santa Clara!!
I went over to the school today and spoke with someone about this. What I was told is that as long as you meet the grade requirements (top 25%) then the scholarship will be renewed at the awarded level. However, due to varying budget constraints and other factors, that particular scholarship might be less. If that were the case, the difference would be covered by a separate endowed scholarship. That being said, as long as you meet the letter's requirements you will receive that amount over three years. You do have to reapply though as it is not automatically renewed, but this is not that complicated.ozarkhack wrote:Mailman just came. Dropped off $10K for SCU next year. Could you even imagine how big of an idiot you would feel like if you passed up an Ivy law school for 50 grand in scholarships from a T2, only to lose that scholarship for your second and third years?amandap wrote:I just got my financial aid letter. I am sure you are smart and would likely do well at SCU but top 25% is not an easy feat at any T100 law school.
If you are that interested in financial aid and are willing to take a risk on the GPA req, then I suggest looking closely at Loyola and USD. They are both far more generous with aid and have a top 30% or top 33%. I got 6k per year at SCU, and something like 80k total at both Loyola and USD.

Got in, the status checker with decision mailed and the fee box having figures and deadlines in the bottom left corner is a good indicator, congrats to everyone else who's gotten in! They only had my paper copy for 6 days, no idea how they took me so fast!

Got scholarship letter for $11k per year with top quarter requirement.
Previously withdrew, so this letter just took a while to get to me. Hopefully they will disburse my offer over some other students.

I have waiting issues. How long did it take everyone to go from 'Decision Mailed' to having the actual envelope in hand?

For me, maybe 3-5 days at most. Although, I am on the East Coast.Mr.Feeny wrote:maybe 3 days or so?moverit wrote:I have waiting issues. How long did it take everyone to go from 'Decision Mailed' to having the actual envelope in hand?
It probably depends on where you are.

Got 11k/year, with the usual top 25% requirement. I think Fordham PT at sticker is a better option for me, though. Even though I'm going to do IP, Fordham is ranked so much better and I kind of have to assume I won't get my scholly renewed. I would also like to live in NYC for at least a little while. I know law school is competitive, but I'm not sure I agree with the renewal philosophy and the atmosphere it could create.

If I had that option, I'd take it over Santa Clara for sure.odon59 wrote:Got 11k/year, with the usual top 25% requirement. I think Fordham PT at sticker is a better option for me, though. Can you explain why? I'm just curious.
