It's 11/24. Acceptances are starting to roll. By the looks of it.

I'm really freaking out. I kind of thought Cornell was a lock for me. I wish I was home to check my mail right now...

Re: Cornell waiting room
Well, it does kinda seem that the 11/20 batch was a deferral batch since we haven't heard of anything else. Could just be the technical aspect - ie they did the mail merge to the deferral letter first, sent that out, then got set to do the acceptance/reject mail merge and those will go out 11/24. Think it has to be more than coincidence we've heard nothing but deferred for 11/20.avacado111 wrote:So those who got DR 11/20 are mainly deferrals?
11/24- I still think the next batch will have acceptances along with deferrals. If they YP me (URM) PM me for stats, I will be sooooooo sad. I wrote an awesome why cornell essay tooo which would make it even sadder.
WTF cornell, why send deferrals before acceptances. it makes no sense.

Someone above me posted that they knew someone who got an acceptance. So that's proofVeritas wrote:proof?avacado111 wrote:no way 12/02 holds true this year. NO WAY!philosoraptor wrote:Last year's LSN, I think.

Also, people have gotten deferrals in farther states then where I live in (located in DC). So I'm hoping there was a second batch that was sent out with acceptances.
Also, I checked my mail.... nothing came.... lol
although it's a theory!!!!

Re: Cornell waiting room
weird you didn't get anything today. That means I won't either. That person above you just said their friend received a Decision, not what it is, so it could be anything...avacado111 wrote:Someone above me posted that they knew someone who got an acceptance. Damn. So, if people are getting deferral letters now, that means they were sent earlier then acceptances (cross fingers)? Lol. I guess we just have to wait until someone actually gets an acceptance. hahahaha.

Re: Cornell waiting room
1) For those who received deferrals did your status checkers change to "decision?" Or did you just randomly receive the deferral letter in the mail? I'm wondering because my status checker has been on "EA Complete" since November 5th.
2) Has anyone been accepted to Cornell yet through EA or has it only been deferrals?
3) Those of you who received deferrals what exactly did it saw about your application being reviewed again? Will deferred applications be looked at again during the regular decision period or with the regular waitlist in April?
Sorry for so many questions!

So are we all pretty much at agreement that being EA Complete as of today is still the "best" status update you can have currently?

Seems like that's the case, yes; but I am not entirely sure. I didn't go complete until the 9th, so it could just be that I am in the next round of deferrals. Who knows... shouldn't be TOO much longer though. So are we all pretty much at agreement that being EA Complete as of today is still the "best" status update you can have currently?

How many people received an unsolicited fee waiver saying that Cornell liked your numbers? Any of these people get deferred already?

Somebody's bound to get an 11/24 letter this afternoon if they were actually mailed that day. That should clarify the picture somewhat. Still too early to call "complete" status preferable to "DR."Shaggier1 wrote:... shouldn't be TOO much longer though.

What's the latest EA Complete date someone has that got a decision? I am still at EA complete as of 11/4, hoping its not just because it's a later complete date.
I want to avoid a repeat of last year (put on reserve, then summer wait list). Hoping this year is my year for Cornell to show me some love!

11/24 decision, nothing in the mail today. Very good numbers for Cornell ("admit" on LSP).

Ha. You didn't post any numbers for either cycle on LSN. What's the deal?cougarlive wrote:What's the latest EA Complete date someone has that got a decision? I am still at EA complete as of 11/4, hoping its not just because it's a later complete date.

I received that packet from Cornell, still at EA Complete, but people with numbers better than mine have been deferred. Who knows? I also didn't go complete until 11/16, however.march319 wrote:How many people received an unsolicited fee waiver saying that Cornell liked your numbers? Any of these people get deferred already?

Re: Cornell waiting room
For reference, when people are using "deferral" in this thread they mean the application is being held to regular decision, am I correct?

Re: Cornell waiting room
Yeah--the thing is, my numbers aren't really indicative of the strength of my application (non-traditional candidate with lots of softs, and unusual obstacles overcome). If I were to post my numbers, people would have questions that they would either A) not believe the answers to, or B) I would come off as being a braggart (or worse yet, someone looking for sympathy). I'm not ready to go there. I think I will post my numbers after the cycle.Hopefullawstudent wrote:Ha. You didn't post any numbers for either cycle on LSN.
