Re: Cornell waiting room
The answering machine stated that they would be out of the office and that they would answer calls when they got back. They said they will monitor the emails but not reply until next week (or something like that). Usually this is where I would point out that adcoms hate applicants and don't give a rats ass about us but Cornell did have a damn big year with applications up 52% or something. I guess they deserve a week off.

Well, what do we think "7/02/10's" - anyone care to speculate about our fates before the mail arrives?

Waitlisted here too. Guess this decision limbo really never ends. I seriously wonder if they have a waitlist to be on the waitlist.

Re: Cornell waiting room
Has anybody heard what the estimated number of applicants on this summer's waitlist is? I'm assuming it is quite large. Any thoughts? I plan on sticking it out.

Re: Cornell waiting room
I just got an email from Cornel. They received my LOCI and will add it to my file. They wrote the standard email. They didn't mention the decision that was made last week or if I am accepted waitlisted or denied.
I wish I had sent that damn LOCI a few days earlier but I know it doesn't matter. I am just an LSAT and GPA number.
I actually called another school that I am interested in attending. I aksed them about my chances of admission and my application. The woman on the phone said "I don't have your application with me, just your scores." Of course, that is all that matters. I wish I knew that before I wasted all those hours writing and rewritng my PS and asking people to look over my application and all that nonsense.

While this is mostly true, I've heard it said that LoR and PS don't matter a lot unless they're bad. A great app with great numbers and an illiterate PS or a terrible LoR can sink you. So it's not a total waste that you spent all that time.
And also, from time to time, a truly epic PS will make a "maybe" into a yes. This is a rarity, even though everyone thinks their PS is the exception that will move the Harvard adcoms to tears.
(This comes from some law school application/admission counselling I took briefly, so take it with a grain of salt)

Has anyone been officially rejected from the reserve yet? I am fairly certain that I have been, but I have yet to receive anything by mail yet and it has been two weeks since my decision.

Re: Cornell waiting room
I was also wondering if there were any rejections. But it may seem that there aren't many because the people who post here on TLS are a small and not fully inclusive sample to try to figure out some numbers from. When I was placed on reserve I was told that there were "hundreds" of people on the reserve list. So I'm going to highball and guess that they put 900 people on it. I haven't taken the time to count, but I don't think there have been more than 100 unique posters to this group. Of that 100 I've roughly counted about 10 people (I'm sure there about 25-50) who said they made it onto the summer waitlist. So it may be possible that there are about 250 of us on the summer waitlist but our numbers seem more concentrated because of this site. In addition, I'm sure there are a few people who are going to withdraw rather than wait it out. And I doubt many people really want to post the bad news, I doubt I would have if I hadn't made it onto the summer waitlist.
I really have no facts to back this up, and won't know until I call the office next week to see if they'll give out any info as to how many applicants are remaining on the summer waitlist.
I didn't use law school numbers for my calculations only because I'm sure a good number of people who went to reserve (or got sent to the regular review from EA) updated their stati to deferred or waitlisted and never bothered to change it back.
Anybody else have any guesses as to how deep this waitlist pool is?

Re: Cornell waiting room
A letter from Cornell arrived at my family's house today. They forwarded it to my current address before I had a chance to ask them to open it for me though. I assume it's a ding/waitlist notice. My home address is in NY, so the rest of the 7/2 people should be hearing tomorrow or Monday, I presume.

Yep! Summer waitlist . So I guess decision 7/2 people are not all automatic dings.....our speculation was wrong.

Bah is anyone else still at decision from forever ago? I'm at decision 4/28 and haven't heard from the school in a very long time, even though I've sent in multiple LOR/LOCI correspondences. Has anyone else heard back without the status checker being updated?

Thanks for the responses, TJ and krj02004.
Gotta say, this is almost as agonizing as the first 27 minutes of the LeBron special last night. But not quite.
