I think Helm was part of one of the first two batches of deferrals. I don't think anyone knows why those people were selected, but I feel as if things have somewhat normalized since then.saltoftheearth wrote:what...Helmholtz wrote:My numbers are better than that I got slapped with a deferral.Nuclear Soldier wrote:have they been deferring people with 172 3.4 ish gpas?

Does anyone know Cornell's median GPA? I have like 4 conflicting numbers and I don't know which is accurate...

Re: Cornell waiting room
All of those in the first two batches of deferrals were complete before mid-October. There's every reason to think that some applicants with similar numbers who were complete in late October and November will also be deferred. To believe otherwise is to suggest that Cornell disfavors applicants who apply extra early. I seriously doubt that is the case.golden boy peanuts wrote:I think Helm was part of one of the first two batches of deferrals. Thanks! I guess the official website might be a reliable source.

I also just finally came to terms with the fact that I have no chance at being accepted, so I will leave the nice Cornell folks alone and set my sights lower. Good luck to everyone!

OMG you guyyyys: My status changed to decision 12/11 over night- anyone else have that?? I'm right around medians btw (not below). Please oh please let it be an acceptance aaaaah!!
I'm gonna have to call since I'm abroad and won't be back to check my mail for 4 weeks... AAAWW so nervous
EDIT: ok, lol, so I took the time to read through the new posts... Looks like we have some solid # in the DR 12/11 batch? From the looks of it, there's gotta be at least some acceptances in this batch

Re: Cornell waiting room
+1. I couldn't apply EA because I was waiting on all of my LORs. And I wasn't exactly negligent on that front either-I talked to all my profs about it in april, and then gave them transcripts, resumes, PSs, etc in July, with a follow up in October when the letters still weren't in. I'm not expecting a decision before Christmas, but I do think I should know by now whether the application I submitted on November 12th is complete.Burger in a can wrote:I guess not... sheesh. No reason to be a jerk about it.Helmholtz wrote:You didn't even apply EA? Do you think they're even going to look at your file in the month of December?Burger in a can wrote:I got on. And it still says: As of 11/17/2009 your application status is: Applied We have received your application and you are in our system.
Sigh. I wish I had applied EA.

Deferred to RD, 168/3.92
Edit: Does anyone know when they get to the deferred people again? She said she thought March'ish but can that really be right?

Same here, deferred, slightly above medians.blhoward2 wrote:Deferred to RD, 168/3.92

Damn. Oh well, at least it's not a rejection, but I'm still kinda bummed. At least I'm in good, high # company thus far. Good luck to the rest of you.
EDIT: I just don't get why they would defer someone so close to their median- you'd think it's either a reject or accept. I'm really bummed and confused.
