Here's a list of all the people with >170s that Cornell offered money to last year. Only a few of them had HYS numbers, and still only 1/19 (possibly 2-3 since some didn't update, but very unlikely looking at their profiles) attended. That has to piss off the Cornell adcoms...forza wrote:Right. Does an Ivy league school really YP? Like another poster said, that's stupid - Cornell is possibly a viable choice for those of us who might choose a lower T14 with $ over a T3 at sticker.
A) Cornell is stingy (as someone noted)
B) They keep track of all of the people with your numbers that get admitted, and I'm sure a very small percentage actually end up at Cornell. So, despite the fact that everyone who gets YPed is always the special snowflake that "WOULD'VE ATTENDED OVER (insert higher ranked school) IF ONLY...", schools keep track of numbers and play the odds just like we do.
Or maybe this isn't YP at all, and they could just detect the same sense of entitlement on your application.

Why Cornell: No, but I am a reapplicant and I wrote a detailed addendum to one question.

Re: Cornell waiting room
I'm still at applied, not EA.
I was actually really hoping for Cornell...thought it would be a nice place to spend a few years regardless of the other t14s I might get into, save of course Berk (blind optimism at this point seeing how this cycle is going)
This sucks

Not expecting much--will probably be in the next batch of deferrals. I'm at Cornell for UG though, and I would absolutely love to stay here for another 3 years.

I'm not sure if I'm still EA or not. My letter of rec arrived a few days before the deadline but my status didn't change until 11/17. But status says EA complete.

I'm also a Cornell alum. But I took a year off since I graduated. ILR. What schools are you guys in? I've heard that Cornell really like its UG applicants. I guess we'll see. Good luck!

Re: Cornell waiting room
K ridiculous question but w.e:
Why is deferred even considered a decision? Would this only happen to EA applicants and does it just mean that you are being help over to the regular pool?
A decision to make a decision...stupid IMO
