I really don't think it's a true "hold" email.

Yes, it was a courtesy call. That is what the admissions office told me.Now, I'm starting to think my first impression was correct...seems like everyone who has been waiting for a while is getting one.

I got the hold letter. I applied ED though, and had already been deferred (obviously). Also numbers below both medians.
I honestly don't think it means anything, I think they just sent it to everyone who's still waiting.

Status checker says Decision, can't log into the admitted students' site. This can't be good.

According to this LSN profile, the e-mail also went out last year in mid-January.

Hey y'all, the more I think about it the more convinced I am that that is NOT equivalent to a hold. This e-mail really means nothing.

Exactly. It's basically to prevent all of us from emailing them and saying "WHY HAVEN'T I GOTTEN A DECISION YET ROAR". It doesn't mean anything bad, it means what you already knew: You'll get a decision later.Reedie wrote:Hey y'all, the more I think about it the more convinced I am that that is NOT equivalent to a hold. +1. The email states its purpose is to minimize our stress and anxiety, but it had the exact opposite effect on this crowd. Irony.Reedie wrote:Hey y'all, the more I think about it the more convinced I am that that is NOT equivalent to a hold. This e-mail really means nothing.
I got the email also, but I think the real question is who here is still at 'Complete' but has not received this 'hold' email yet? I would expect it is a smaller number than people who have received this email.

I don't think I feel any better knowing applications aren't way up at Michigan. Before I could just write my impending rejection off to a deluge of more qualified applicants, but now it's more like 'haha sucker, we wouldn't take you if applications were DOWN!"

IN! OMG! I'm so pumped! I was accepted via a UPS big package! (I live abroad) My status checker still said complete. Materials came with letter, history book, and a Michigan USB flash drive with a bunch of information on it. Also, the dean does handwritten notes on the acceptance letters, I must say it's a really nice thing to see so much holistic review put into the decision process! I hadn't seriously sat down and thought about Michigan but the more I think about it the better I like it.

Did anyone else get status update on the 11th and then change to the 12th today for no reason?

Actually, that was the way I think it was intended, that the delay of going to Decision made it so that you would receive your packet before you knew something was coming...finalaspects wrote:congrats! strange you're still at complete though...def2104 wrote:IN! I don't know, I still think something seems weird about that. Has anyone in that group actually gotten a rejection yet?finalaspects wrote:guess that's not the way it works for rejections though?starstruck393 wrote:Actually, that was the way I think it was intended, that the delay of going to Decision made it so that you would receive your packet before you knew something was coming...finalaspects wrote:congrats! strange you're still at complete though...def2104 wrote:IN!
