GULC does not offer a large amount of merit aid scholarships. They send out personal emails to certain applicants inviting them to interview for the scholarships, then select the awardees, and alternates.
I know in recent correspondance with them, I learned that they have made their preliminary offers already.
The financial aid office does offer some need-based grants, although you are required to give them your parent's financial information so I think it's difficult to qualify for one.
However, GULC has a great LRAP program if you're interested in Public Interest.
Thanks for the heads up! I personally wouldn't mind submitting my parents' financial info (I have long sent in my FAFSA, etc. with that info).
Hopefully I can snag some dollars though.
I am also interesting in PI so I'll definitely looking into the LRAP.

Quick question for those of us awarded merit scholarships. I was awarded a very small merit scholarship, but I have to accept by April 1. For everyone else who has to accept by April 1, are you under the impression that we must withdraw ALL other applications, acceptances, and waitlist offers? It appeared to be worded that way.
I still haven't even heard from NYU. My chances are certainly not looking good at NYU by now, but I may not hear until April. Plus I'm on 4 or 5 waitlists.
What is everyone planning on doing? I do love Georgetown, but the scholarship was quite modest and I feel terrible withdrawing before even receiving a decision at some schools.

I'm pretty sure that you have to withdraw everything.

You do have to withdraw to all other schools to accept the offer. In your case if the amount wasn't a lot need based may make it worth it to e-mail them and let them know you are still interested in georgetown, but just can't fully commit by their deadline, they won't rescind the acceptance just the scholarship. Or so I was told.

Status checker updated to UR 3/15 (previously UR 3/10 and UR 2/5, complete around 1/5).
I'm hoping all of this UR but no DR means that they are debating between acceptance and WL, not between WL and rejection...but not holding my breath.

Has anyone - admitted or otherwise - heard back about the PILS scholarship program?

There's a thread about this on the Financial Aid board. So far, no one over there has heard anything. I applied for PILS and have not heard anything.

Does anyone know how they'll notify us? E-mail? Snail-mail? I'm away from my mailbox for the next week...

I haven't heard. I called them and was told decisions would be out in early April. Unfortunately, this puts us in a really difficult situation if the PILS program is a major factor in our decision of whether or not to attend. If we're offered other merit aid awards of any amount at Georgetown we have to accept and withdraw from all other schools BEFORE PILS offers are made.

im pretty sure that if you have not been offered a merit scholarship yet, that the april 1 deadline does not apply to you... only the first round of offers have to accept or decline before april 1... that is my understanding.

sounds correct. they will use the money that people decline to offer to those with sick numbers they just admitted off of the SPWL.

I think they notified the earlier people through e-mail. I still haven't heard anything today. Did anyone call and ask?

Maybe I shouldn't get quite so excited yet then. Hopefully with so much movement, it means you will get a decision soon. Good luck!

I'm just amazed I've hung around this long. I think with you going UR it's a good sign that I'll get a decision soon, since our numbers are quite different. Probably you too =P Especially since I'm sure deposits are due soon.

Finally went UR today. I'm most likely an auto-reject, but I'd rather rip the bandaid off quickly then have a more prolonged wait.
I'd be curious to hear about other PTers, any WLs or acceptances out there?

Changed to 3/16, too. Under medians, but let's see what happens.

Same for me. Updated UR two days in a row...I feel a decision has to be coming soon. They must be sick of looking at our files by now.

I applied for PT, went from "Committee requested interview" status on 2/3, interviewed on 2/24, and now my status just changed to UR 3/16... I'll keep you posted on the outcome
