In special group on preferred waitlist. Anyone know how many people generally get in off of it? Also, does this mean I have no shot at Global Law Scholars?

Got an email that I'm on the preferred waitlist. Been UR for AGES, so I guess this is something (or is it?). I had an interview in January.

Aw, placed on the preferred waiting list...the email says "The Committee has designated you as part of a small select group within the Preferred Waiting List."
I guess this means I need to either send in a LOCI or just wait it out if I'm not really into GULC...I just got into UVA so now I'm not sure.

Special group within preferred waitlist here. Numbers in profile. I'm rather surprised, honestly. Is it a pseudo-YP thing to see if I really want to go?

Just venting...
UR sometime in late Dec, 1/6, 1/11, 1/17, and 2/4. I can't imagine what's taking so long... I should have been an auto-deny. The longer they drag this out and build anticipation the more it's going to sting.

Hmm also preferred waitlist, not sure what to make of it...
I was under the impression that my numbers (3.92 UMich Engineering, 171 one take) shoulda been enough, and I got in at nyu already
any ideas?

As someone on the preferred-preferred WL with a 171 3.2, this is all very interesting and mildly encouraging.thickfreakness wrote:171/4 preferred waitlist. It's YP.gerghk wrote:Hmm also preferred waitlist, not sure what to make of it...

Re: Georgetown 2013/ (2014)
"The Committee on Admissions has reviewed your application and has placed your name within a special group on our Preferred Waiting List."
"If you remain interested in being part of this year's entering class, the Committee is hopeful that we will have some news for you in the next few weeks. Please respond by e-mail to let us know whether you are interested in remaining part of this select group"
This wording kinda makes it sound like maybe a nice LOCI = acceptance? unfortunately the only thing that could really draw me away from T10 is some money and it seems unlikely that I'll get any off the waitlist no matter how "special". anyone know about getting money off the preferred waiting list? though weren't people saying they are hardly giving money to anyone this year.

You'd think a YP wouldn't preclude $ later on. Otherwise why not just ding you.eagles111 wrote:"The Committee on Admissions has reviewed your application and has placed your name within a special group on our Preferred Waiting List."

I have this pessimistic theory that they put yp people who they think might actually attend on the waitlist just so they have no expectation of scholarships...beef wellington wrote:You'd think a YP wouldn't preclude $ later on. I don't know. Less than an hour before the e-mail. I just check the status checker after I got the email and it said DR 2/17/10A Swift wrote:It came in an e-mail? Re: Georgetown 2013/ (2014)
Ha, we've talked about this in the Fordham thread haven't we? I called that a kind of non-traditional YP. We weren't over both medians but we still will probably get into higher ranked schools, and they aren't gonna give us money, so they WL'ed us. In this case, eagles is over both medians and it seems like a pretty straight YP, in which case write a LOCI and get a scholly. At least I think that's how it works.sibley wrote:I have this pessimistic theory that they put yp people who they think might actually attend on the waitlist just so they have no expectation of scholarships...beef wellington wrote:You'd think a YP wouldn't preclude $ later on. Or they could just let me in and stop making me depressed. Or that. Punks.

DR 2/17/10. Preferred waitlist. Numbers in the 3.7/171 range, which LSP has as "Admit". Kinda surprised by this.
Thankfully I got into Michigan earlier today, so the blow isn't as painful. Thank you Michigan.
