+1. Just got the e-mail. Had been under review since 10/28.roxy8338 wrote:Held at Georgetown...what does this mean exactly? They're not going to look at my application until late Jan? Is this better or worse than a waitlist?
I was RD, not ED too.

+1. What the heck does this mean? I had been under review since 10/28, too. I'm calling them.MirandaHobbes wrote:+1. Just got the e-mail. interesting. thanks for calling.monkeygirl wrote:OK-apparently this is something that they send out to EVERYONE who applied before a certain date.
When I called, the person who answered said that the email meant that my file had been held over to the RD pool. I told them that I was RD to begin with and he said that, since I had applied so early, I got the same email that went out to the ED people who are in the same boat.
I asked him if it was a WL, and he said definitely not.

That's the best bit. Thanks for promising us a decision within the next two months!monkeygirl wrote:Yeah, it kind of made me, too.
Here it is from the horse's mouth (well, keyboard)
Dear Monkeygirl,
Thank you for your e-mail. Once we receive updates, including your fall grades, I will notify the Admissions Committee and Dean Cornblatt.
You were placed on hold. The Admissions Committee will finalize their decision by February 26, 2010 for you. The hold is different from being on a wait list; wait list is a final decision and the applicants on the wait list generally hear back from the Admissions Committee towards the end of the summer.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office.

We're not DR -at least I'm not- 'cause hold isn't a final decision. It's more of an FYI.hopefulundergrad wrote:When did all the hold people go DR?

I was kind of expecting this because I kinda botched my interview.
Remember just one short month ago when you were in utter despair thinking you're cycle would go horrendously. And now, after taking a quick peek at your LSN, you're undoubtedly go to a T14 with $ or a T30 with a $$$. Congrats!tintin wrote:well, looks like I got put on the preferred waitlist. apparently not uncommon after interviewing.

+1. Turn-around time? I'm interviewing tomorrow (finally, after waiting 23 days) and am curious.secant wrote:goodolgil wrote:Same. And same. 169 3.85tintin wrote:well, looks like I got put on the preferred waitlist. apparently not uncommon after interviewing.

How did you find out; (when) did your status change to DR? Thanks.

Not quite sure; I checked it this morning and it was still at UR and then a couple hours later I got the email. So there could not have been more than a two hour difference, if there was any at all.secant wrote:goodolgil wrote:Same. Wait listed, too. I was hoping for the best, but had a feeling I'd be wait listed...goodolgil wrote:Same. And same. 169 3.85tintin wrote:well, looks like I got put on the preferred waitlist. apparently not uncommon after interviewing.
