theyre rejecting ED applicants wit 170+ and respectable GPAs? I am ED 174 and stupid crappy 3.05, I was hoping atleast for a deferral...do you think it will be a straight up denial?
Complete 12/1, UR 12/3 and they say they let ED know by 12/15 so ill know for sure soon enough

Did anyone else get a handwritten note on their acceptance letter? I want to know if I should feel special (unrelated evidence rejects this).

Every time I come to this thread I judge everyone secretly about posting so incessantly.
Then I realize that I'm checking it incessantly.
This whole process is a killer.
On a less serious note, I know most people have seen this multiple times, but it never fails to cheer me up:

Is it completely pathetic that my heart drops to my stomach every time I get an email alert?
I had my interview last week but I'm not even DR yet.

it's probably how we all feel at this point. the email from admission person sounds like a clever excuse to delay communications. informing some people by email and others by mail.
still it's ridiculous if they really did take 5 days to send out a rejection email.

I think I'm going to die today, and the cause of death is going to be listed as "heart attack due to Blackberry email alerts."
That being said, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN that they are "experimenting" with different means of notification and some are email and some are letters???? I have NO WAY to prepare myself then!

That response is wholly unsatisfying. Experimenting with green decision notification processes does not explain why the decision is taking so long to come. If anything, it sounds like it might come faster that way unless they are doing the whole scanning and e-mailing thing.
I don't understand. Can't they just do email-attachments click send instead of print and scan and email if they really want to go paperless?
(unless they are talking about scanning the dean's little notes? But they don't do email acceptances so this is out).
They are being such riddle basins.

No email yet, only 5.5 more hours to go...theoretically.

Is it really so hard just to email people once a decision is rendered? I'll never understand mailing decisions when there is email.

Bureaucracies suck at adapting to change.
Or working efficiently.
Or making sense.

This whole thing makes me appreciate Kafka so much more. We are in a crazy mixed up world. It is a Kafka-esque world.

Just wondering. How long did it take your interviewer to get in contact with you? I received a request for an interview on the 1st and am still waiting to hear. Very anxious... just want to get to the interview, because I know I won't receive a decision until a do! Gotta love being stuck in limbo

I don't really know anything about ED. My post was specifically about RD. It doesn't really apply to ED bc for ED they have to give you a decision by 12/15, and that decision is essentially admit, reject, or hold (I'll pretend wl doesn't exist for now). For RD, they don't have to give you a decision until April, and DR 12/1 would have to be either admit or reject. They wouldn't say "decision rendered" if they were holding your application. Basically I don't think they'd be outright rejecting RD applicants with median or better LSAT scores this early in the cycle... My logic tells me they would at least be holding them for a while before rejecting. I really hope I'm right, although this post does nothing to help you out.

with their explanation, there is no telling if not receiving an email is a definite email because some decisions might be sent by regular mail.
with each hour, schools with greater transparency are +1 in my eyes.
