(me when I found out).
IN! ED. Found out yesterday.
Thank you for all the well wishes and congratulations. This is a dream come true and I have no idea what to say. Nothing this special has ever happened to me in my life. I'm just so glad to know that a school lived up to its words and read my application. It's so hard to think about where I've come from, and where I am now.
I want to thank everyone who gave me advice and support, and wish everyone the best of luck with their cycles.
PM me if you have any questions.

Re: UCLA?
has anyone been WLed and are planning on sending additional LORs? My problem is I've already sent 3 so LSAC won't let me send another one officially. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? And for those that have sent/are planning on sending LOCI, is it better to send via mail or email?

Re: UCLA?
I'm a borderline applicant (3.5/168)...do you think I should send in a Why UCLA asap? I was thinking of sending one in as a LOCI if I got waitlisted, but I'm worried it could very well be just a flat-out rejection.

Re: UCLA?
I'm in the same boat. I'm actually really interested in UCLA because they've been almost completely off my radar since I applied - no noise, movement, or anything. I'm going to get some kind of decision out of nowhere and be reminded that I applied here.imisscollege wrote:complete beg of nov, RD. when should i expect to hear?

Re: UCLA?
Not great. Just above 25th GPA and just below 25th LSAT. I didn't have high hopes when applying, just figured it might be a nice/unexpected west coast option if I got in. So all the silence is not bothering me terribly.imisscollege wrote: what are your numbers if you don't mind sharing

Re: UCLA?
I went complete about a month ago and am wondering my chances...160 LSAT, 3.4 GPA, top ranked undergrad uni, senior thesis, two years service after undergrad in my legal field of interest (AmeriCorps VISTA), and URM.
I applied to their Public Interest program (and my softs and experience clearly demonstrate my passion for this). UCLA is definitely one of my top choices, so what do you think are my chances? Applied RD.

I was WLed with a higher GPA and similar LSAT...but I'm still in undergrad but applied ED. So maybe you have a good shot at a WL? And it's my understanding that the Epstein program has a completely separate admissions team...and if they admit you to the program then you're an auto-admit for the school even if you were rejected/WLed

Re: UCLA?
Still waiting on my packet - got the call on 12/8. The dean mentioned on the call they were having issues w/their system and it might be a little while before the packet arrived. I did get an email on 12/16 (UCLA Law - Info. for Admitted Students).regatsrj wrote:Has anyone who was accepted by phone received anything in the mail? I got the call two weeks ago and am still waiting for physical proof of my acceptance in the mail

Primarily auto-admit applicants, I believe.

i don't want this to be taken as a flame... but if i saw a 20 year old applicant, there'd be no way i'd take him/her over a comparable 24/25 year old. i think the only exception would be genius-level statistics. my advice would be to get out there and get some work experience.

Good thing you're not on the admissions committee then.

Re: UCLA?
I think your essays (and probably LORs) simply weren't as strong as you had hoped. Unfortunately, our own perceptions of our applications are irrelevant.mctj wrote:I was just rejected outright. 169/3.5/Pretty good softs (other TLSers have agreed). ED.
I would like opinions. I thought my PS was good, and I wrote a really strong essay for their programmatic contribution section. Am I completely wrong? Were these, or one of these, essays complete shit? I am also graduating a year early and a little young (I am 20 now) - is this a deciding factor? Finally, I come from (what I believe to be) a shitty state school; could that have rendered my GPA lower than it already is?
I am going to call Monday and get all of the info I can. Barring some gross error on my application (like writing "Fuck Dean Schwartz" instead of my last name, can anyone figure out (read 'speculate') why I wasn't even given a wait-list spot?
Sorry about the ding

i'm not trying to insult you, but whatever work experience you have is probably not as compelling as an equally qualified 25 year old may have. full disclosure- i'm 25. your initial post said you wanted thoughts and opinions. this is mine.

Re: UCLA?
This scares me because my numbers are not much better than yours and I have the same age issue that you do. I'm sorry you got dinged...let us know if you find out more, because I could end up in the same situation.mctj wrote:I was just rejected outright. 169/3.5/Pretty good softs (other TLSers have agreed).
