$1000 need based for first year, and $0 merit based even after negotiation.49erjo wrote:For those of you who have heard back RE financial aid offers, I'm curious as to see what kind of money people are receiving. Please post! I received a generous $1,000 per year. Whoopee!

I wonder if the UC's are going to be super stingy this year...Slansky wrote:$1000 need based for first year, and $0 merit based even after negotiation.49erjo wrote:For those of you who have heard back RE financial aid offers, I'm curious as to see what kind of money people are receiving. They were generous with me, but I think it is a moot point since I got a scholarship and probably dont get any of the grant money offered.49erjo wrote:I wonder if the UC's are going to be super stingy this year...Slansky wrote:$1000 need based for first year, and $0 merit based even after negotiation.49erjo wrote:For those of you who have heard back RE financial aid offers, I'm curious as to see what kind of money people are receiving. They would probably be more generous with in-state students, but it all depends on what goal the UCs are setting for themselves now. Inexpensive for state students or be the best school with the best students possible?

Guess they are aiming to be the best school possible rather than a public good. Can't blame them for that, as law school is on a different level than undergrad.Slansky wrote:Nope. I'm in-state.

Re: UCLA?
I'm in the same boat, and got an admit email last Friday. Unfortunately, haven't been able to get my paperwork in cause I'm abroad and due to a death in the family everyone I know is out of town state-side and thus I can't get access to my tax returns etc. Just called and spoke with a very nice woman in the financial aid office - she indicated that of course I'm still fine for Stafford (and maybe Perkins) loans, and that the March 2nd deadline is primarily for grant money aimed at the worst cases. She gave me Dean Schwartz's email address and encouraged me to shoot him a line, but her general reaction seemed to be that I was still eligible if I get things in double plus fast.barrydukakis wrote:So... decided to get caught up on my law school apps, and saw the UCLA's financial aid deadline was March 2nd.
Have not had decision, so didn't look at the e-mail too closely when it originally came through.
Am I screwed?

I work at JPL so it's pretty "casual" and I doubt I'll change from my work attire, but I might be tempted to wear some sort of USC item just to stir things upJericwithers wrote:It's going to be 85 degrees on Monday. You can wear burnt orange just because UT beat 'SC in the BCS championship a few years ago.Jericwithers wrote:Can I wear Texas burnt orange?
