wait, berk sent out ding emails? when?Hopefullawstudent wrote:Question: Does anyone know if Berkeley and UCLA "trade" applicants the way the Ivy League schools do? oh ya...I can't keep track. That was when all the people who were left over from the people who didn't get FR were rejected except for an even smaller, confused handful, I think.msch0i wrote:Last week sometime...wednesday, I think?Veritas wrote:wait, berk sent out ding emails? when?Hopefullawstudent wrote:Question: Does anyone know if Berkeley and UCLA "trade" applicants the way the Ivy League schools do? Re: UCLA?
I got a message on my answering machine that UCLA law admissions called. I'll call them back in the morning. It would be pretty cruel to give rejections over the phone. I wonder if adcoms do this occasionally just to break the routine: "Hello Murph, This is dean X from UCLA. Really, what were you thinking when you applied? (Laughter in the background) We just called to wish you luck at Cooley. They are really ranked quite high. (More laughter)"

I'd probably leave a burning bag of shit outside their door, but it would be an amusing story to tell years after. I think, anyways.MURPH wrote:I got a message on my answering machine that UCLA law admissions called. I'll call them back in the morning. It would be pretty cruel to give rejections over the phone. Have any people who applied to the Epstein program heard yet? Does anyone know if they review these at different times?

Call them. That is a little long not to have heard anything. Check your email junk folder too just in case a notification was sent there accidentally.mrm2083 wrote:I applied Jan 12 and still haven't gone complete, is it normal for UCLA to take this long?

Congrats!!! Mine didn't mention $ either...actually it was a really short conversation with me being somewhat idiotic.

Waitlisted today via email (that got trapped by gmail's spam filter). Not sure if I'm staying on or not. SIGH.

Does UCLA have a status checker? Don't remember receiving a link...or I can't find the email.

does anyone know how long, on average, it takes an application to go complete and be under review?

Nope.cindytran872 wrote:Does UCLA have a status checker? Don't remember receiving a link...or I can't find the email.

Nope. See above. But it usually takes less than two weeks for an application to go complete. When it goes under review, no one on TLS really knows. They don't have a strict rolling admissions process. It is slow or quick depending on your stats.lawapps0502 wrote:does anyone know how long, on average, it takes an application to go complete and be under review?

Re: UCLA?
There's a separate thread for Epstein applicants that I've found helpful: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 2&t=104536.roundabout wrote:Have any people who applied to the Epstein program heard yet? Does anyone know if they review these at different times?
But the general consensus seems to be that we'll have to wait longer as we theoretically have two separate apps. that need to be reviewed by two separate committees. And, apparently you can possibly be rejected from UCLA but accepted to Epstein, which could in turn put you back into UCLA (or vice versa). Complicated process.

Wow. I had crossed U San Diego Law School off my list, but they just offered me $120K. What do people think: UCLA in-state or San Diego practically full-ride? I basically know that I want to practice in SoCal.

Yes. The award is only paid in full if I finish the 1L year in the top third of the class. It is reduced to ~20K renewable per year as long as I maintain a particular GPA. Etc. It took them a while to get that scholarship info out!Veritas wrote:wow! congrats, I'm still waiting to hear from them about the money.Hopefullawstudent wrote:Wow. Eh, given those conditions... Take UCLA unless you don't care at all about biglaw.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
