How did you find out?? Did you status date change recently?
Yes, the status date section is gone, and there is a little message at the top saying that a waiting list letter is in the mail. Apparently, if it just says "status update," that is a rejection. Fingers crossed for everyone who has their pages change today!

Now I can't focus on work .... ahhhh ... haha I'm still stuck on review 3/10. But I got that e-mail asking if I was still interested last Thursday. I need to close my status checker before I go crazy.

Sorry to hear that, Thunder. Did you find out through e-mail or status checker?

To anyone who got put on the waitlist recently- did you get an e-mail asking if you were still interested in UTK? I'm trying to figure out if this e-mail I received is a good or a bad sign.

I saw it on status checker. It went blank this morning and above the standard status checker text in the orange above it, it offered me waitlist. The text would be easy to miss. If you're blank, you might double check for the text.

I just called Tennessee and asked about the e-mail that asked about interest in UT. The lady informed me that this was not a waitlist. She basically said that they were trying to figure out who was still interested in UTK or was already committed to another school of the applicants that they are still interested in. I guess that the e-mail is a good sign (or at least its not a bad sign). If I respond to their e-mail telling them that I am still very interested to attend UT, what do you think the likelihood of acceptance is?

Tennessee only accepts about 350-400 students to form a class of around 150, so they really try to make sure a student is likely to attend if offered admission. Also, once accepted, Tennessee sends three letters and a bunch of other literature (and emails) so they probably just want to make sure they're not going to be wasting their time on someone who isn't seriously considering becoming a Vol.

Nothing wrong with it. Just saying, UT, with a $665 million endowment, is probably not concerned with wasting $5 on a pamphlet and postage; they are concerned with their yield rate.

My status date changed from 12/7/09 to 3/17/10 on Wednesday, and it went blank today. At the top of the screen it said I'm being offered the W/L and that a letter about it is in the mail. I didn't get the "Are you still interested" email that everyone is talking about, so if you got it I'm assuming you're in good shape. I don't expect to take a spot on the W/L, so good luck to all of you guys! Hopefully I'll improve your chances of getting in.

I got waitlisted but did not receive the "are you interested" email. What should I do next in addition to mailing back the waitlist letter?

I got the "are you interested?" email late last week. I sent a reply of a couple paragraphs about "why UT" and then received a reply saying it would be added to my file. Now my status checker is blank--no status, no date, no new mailings, nothin.

What was the last date your status checker had??
Also, anyone have thoughts on updating my app or LOCI?? I am sitting on review 3/10 and received that email on the 11th, but I was at work so my response was brief and to the point. Also, this was my first application, and I'm afraid it's not nearly as crisp and informative as the last ones I did. I'm just afraid there's not time to snail mail it and I know most schools prefer that to emails.

I got the e-mail and also wrote a brief response (it didn't really seem to warrant more than that based on the e-mail wording). Still "In Review" 3/10.

I also got the email, wrote back a very brief response and my status checker is blank. Only problem is, I don't remember if it was blank when I got the email or not. So I'm not sure if the blank checker is a new development for me or not. Anyone else recall this detail?

My status checker changed from "Review 2-1" to "Review 3-17" Wednesday night. Then on Thursday 3-18 I got the "Interested?" email during the day (my status checker still said "Review 3-17" even after getting the email). I sent a brief "why UT" response (~200 words?) and then got this reply...
"Thank you for the quick response. I will scan this e-mail into your electronic file for the Admissions Committee's consideration. Please let me know if I may help in any other way."
Status checker went blank sometime after getting the email, not sure if it was before or after my response.

The blank status checker is normally an indication that they have made a decision ... keep your fingers crossed & good luck! Let us all know what happens!

My status went blank, then I received the e-mail. After that I went back to "Review 3/10" and have been there ever since.

Nope, still says 3/10. The only time it ever went blank was immediately before I received the "are you still interested?" email.
