BC Law 2010
Anyone really interested in attending BC Law for the 2010 cycle? I'm currently finishing my BA/MA in philosophy at BC, and have basically settled on BC Law as my first choice. I'm only considering schools in Boston and New York, and it's technically my lowest ranked choice, but probably the only one I'll get into. Nonetheless, I'm still pretty excited. If you're interested in BC Law, post here!

169LSAT and 3.7ish GPA( int'l applicant)
BC Law is my dream schools. Except its prestigious reputation and amazing job placement in Boston area, I have some personal reasons for BC Law. Dying for getting into it, but I may need some money.

169/3.7 GPA, BC your dream school? Uh... unless you get SERIOUS money, I would set my sights a tad higher. By a tad, I mean a lot.daniel5215 wrote:+1

EDIT: Erm.. that came out wrong. BC is a great school, but BC/BU are getting hit hard in the economy. I would take a higher school if I had those stats. The Boston market isn't pretty, and BC is really regional.

Re: BC Law 2010
BC didn't bite for my fee waiver request. I blanketed the top 20 with a generic "Dear X" I want a fee waiver "#s" email, BC was not one of the ones that gave me one.
I have a 166, 3.87, and BC is my dream school. I love it, I want to be there, period. I think I have a shot (not a great one...or even good one) at UCLA and Cornell, and I'll take it if I get it, but I want BC bad.

yea, I have personal reasons for BC, and that is important to me. I do plan to apply a few of higher-ranked schools like Cornell and UMich and UCLA etc. But if I could get decent money from BC, I would definitely go. However, being an int'l applicant, there is a couple of things that I am not sure. First of all is my GPA, LSAC nowadays don't calculate GPAs for int'l applicants, they simply give average grade based on a 100-scale and a percentile rank in the int'l applicant pool based on the data collected in the recent three years, and my average score is around 86.5-87 (which is pretty good in my school and all schools in China), that will make me around top 15% or so. My school also give a certificate saying that my GPA is 3.7 out of 4.0 according to the grading system of my school, I don't know how much effective that will be. And second is about money. BC told me via email that the only financial aid int'l applicants are eligible is its institutional merit-based scholarship. I'm not sure they are willing to give much money to int'l students, considering what I've heard about their "stinginess" toward int'l students.
oh, and BC does not give fee waivers to int'l applicant, which is explicitly stated on their website

Re: BC Law 2010
if BC gives me full scholarship, I will love them till the end of time. But probably they will not give that much. They said that the merit-based scholarship ranges from 5,000 to 30,000, that is not enough to cover full tuition, close though.jlk86 wrote:should be in good shape. one of my friends goes there on a full scholarship & he had a 167- not sure of his gpa but likely in 3.7-3.8 range- certainly no lower.daniel5215 wrote:+1

Re: BC Law 2010
so i just got an email from bc giving me the infor for the status checker, and went and checked it for the first time. it says i'm complete, but they also have a "decision status" part which the other status checkers don't. it says "pending decision, which i assume is the default setting...just wondering if anyone knew any specifics about why they have two parts to their status

Mine says the same. Every school has slightly different things on their status checkers. I think its just the default for once your app is complete.eire1013 wrote:so i just got an email from bc giving me the infor for the status checker, and went and checked it for the first time. it says i'm complete, but they also have a "decision status" part which the other status checkers don't. it says "pending decision, which i assume is the default setting...just wondering if anyone knew any specifics about why they have two parts to their status

Also pending decision. Admissions told me that they wouldn't mail any decision out until December 15th though. Good luck to everyone who applied.

I applied EA as well. 168/3.65 but...I'm white, male, from Boston and a BC undergrad so I'm not really bringing anything to the table as far as a diverse student body goes. Good luck all!
