I hear you have some ability to affect what section you are placed in. If that is the case, then stacking would be pretty difficult to pull off.

An admissions officer saying something doesn't happen doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't happen. I'd imagine admissions officers from a school that stacks sections would say that the school doesn't stack. A lot of what law schools say needs to be met with skepticism.

How would someone do this?

Also, +1 about the admissions officers, they have to sell the school, as well.

Really? I wish mine was a 2.5. I have to maintain a 3.2! If you dont mind sharing, what are your numbers?

On an off note. This week I talked to someone who mentioned Miami being a very dangerous city. Saying there are places you cannot go or will end up in some trouble (muggings and assaults). Any miami residents or anyone else say anything about this?

UM is in Coral Gables, not Miami. You can't be completely reckless or anything, but the area around campus is pretty safe (though you should always be extra-careful when walking alone at night).

If I attend UM I plan to live in/or around miami and probably spend alot of time there. I will be moving with my g/f so she wants it to be nice/safe too. As with any city, one has to act smart.

Im from Minneapolis and theres some less than nice areas in which one should be smart, but there are not any areas rough enough to completely avoid. Is this the same for Miami?

Probably "URM" lol
For those who got 20k instead of 23k on LSN last yr, all of them were URM.

When you can't get your lies straight on a message board you may want to reconsider your career and point it away from law :)

Congrats on having your URM status...otherwise you're pretty much a sure rejection. Ridiculous.

I've got similar numbers and didn't get an email. I can only make a WAG and say that Miami is holding out on the lower GPAs and maybe we will get a letter next month. Like you, I thought that the LSAT score would get us some cash.

In June, I talked to Theresa Lambert and she said that they "started" looking at scholarships for LSAT 160+ and GPA 3.4+. Maybe since our GPAs didn't fall in the range, we missed the first cut. UM is my first choice and I'm as worried as you are, if not more.

I emailed the office asking if not having received a scholarship email 3 to 4 weeks after acceptance suggests that we will not get one or whether there is still hope. No reply yet..

Call and ask for your status. When I did they were really nice, and were more than happy to let me know where I stand.

I visited Miami today and found out I was in. They told me I won't have scholarship info for a couple of weeks.
My first acceptance so far.
