I have been complete since Feb 2 and still no work one way or the other. Have other people with that complete date received a decision? I know on the status checker it says you are supposed to have a decision in around 8 weeks. Just tired of waiting...

Is is appropriate to send an e-mail asking how much longer I should expect to wait (in the most courteous tone possible of course)?

I'm in the same boat (complete 2/4). If you do send an email, I'd be interested in the response too.

I e-mailed them and got this back:

Thank you for your interest in Northwestern Law. If your status checker
reads complete, then your application is either waiting to be reviewed or is
in the midst of being reviewed. Unfortunately, there will not be a change
in your status checker from "complete" until a decision is actually
rendered. When this happens, you will receive an email from our office
letting you know that the Admissions Committee has reached a decision on
your application file.

As for a time frame on when you will receive a decision from us,
unfortunately, I am unable to provide you with an exact estimate. It has
been taking us a little longer this application season than the anticipated
8 weeks, but hopefully you will hear from us in the near future.

I'm also just fresh from ASW and I met a LOT of people who weren't set on NU (I'd say over half of the people I talked to). I'm sure that, come April 30th, some spots will open up for all of you

All you people in NU purgatory, I have a proposition.

I'm fresh from the ASW deciding between NU and Georgetown. Knowing where all of your sympathies lie, I want you to convince me why I should pick Gtown over NU.

If you succeed, a spot in the class will open up.

No can do; I'm equally invested in both schools. I think a few of us are. Also, that's not how spaces open up (I mean, it is, but on a macro level that's planned for by the school), but I can see your dilemma. Good schools both.

I know but I figure if I can get an insightful reply here, it will actually weigh more heavily than if I were to ask on a GULC thread.

Plus I was hoping to motivate/trick someone.

I would also couple any such letter with 3 or so specific reasons why NU is unique to you ... what makes them different. This will give any "unconditional" plea significantly more credence.

If anyone is looking for reasons, I'd read their Plan 2008, it could give you specific reasons to hit on.

Do you think its good/bad/insignificant that our applications are taking longer than the eight weeks? I assume that many with that complete date have received a decision one way or the other.

Probably just wishful thinking to think that they are looking at my application "extra hard"...

I just called about an hour ago because I have an approaching deadline, too. I've been complete since mid-Feb with no updates since then.

The person at the admissions office I spoke with told me that my file was being reviewed right now and that I would most likely have my decision by the end of the week, next week at the latest.

I also got mugged on W Chicago a few blocks west of Michigan. I'm not sure how important safety is to people, but something to keep in mind.
