Re: Berkeley 2010
just out of curiosity, does this mean faculty review hasn't happened yet at all, so that everyone who has gotten in already did not go through it?

Re: Berkeley 2010
I just got the "under faculty review" email. A tad above the median LSAT range, a tad below the median GPA range. Non-URM.
Um, does anyone *actually* know what this means? It seems like we're the "right on the edge" group? At this point, do "softs" matter more, or do they still look at numbers? Is a LOCI a good idea?
It's nice that they gave themselves a deadline, tho...
edit: under review 11/9

For those of you that don't know what Committee review means, read this:

I have to say, I feel like being UR 11/02 with no word in any capacity from Berkeley, be it acceptance or Fac Com, doesn't strike me as being a good sign. I thought I had a decent chance at Berkeley, too..

Yea, if only they were of any indication of my chances of being admitted. I'm gonna keep saying it to myself as I try to fall asleep tonight. (why isn't there a "freaking out" smiley on these forums? you'd think that would be very popular around here.)kingabraham3 wrote:looking at all those fee waivers you picked up, i'm sure your in good shape.Ragged wrote: Congrats. Don't worry, by how long it's taking most of us to hear anything, I think we can rest assured that there was nothing "auto" about our process. I'm sure our applications will sit in a pile for another few weeks before being glanced at and rejected.msch0i wrote:...does this mean that if we didn't get the faculty review email, we're auto-rejects? say it ain't so!

Yea, that is wierd. But do you really care? you are already in NYU and prolly some other T5 schools. Does Berkley YP at all?5ky wrote:I have to say, I feel like being UR 11/02 with no word in any capacity from Berkeley, be it acceptance or Fac Com, doesn't strike me as being a good sign. I guess I can rename my category to glanced-at reject Has anyone gotten a FR e-mail that went UR in December or late November? Right now it seems like mostly October/early November URs are getting notified..ccs224 wrote:Don't worry, by how long it's taking most of us to hear anything, I think we can rest assured that there was nothing "auto" about our process. got sent to faculty review...I'm super depressed. Essentially, Berkeley is the only school left that I really would be upset to get dinged at. This is the worst feeling of my cycle for sure...

surely this is a good thing though? if we haven't been accepted or notified of faculty review, then it's a no, so why be sad about getting faculty review?TheWire wrote:got sent to faculty review...I'm super depressed. Yeah I think so too. Kind of wish they would just tell us though...smiley wrote:surely this is a good thing though? if we haven't been accepted or notified of faculty review, then it's a no, so why be sad about getting faculty review?TheWire wrote:got sent to faculty review...I'm super depressed. So, I just went UR today, but everything saving my 2nd LSAT has already been there. All of the sudden I figure I'm rejected due to this mailing. How crazy am I?

Re: Berkeley 2010
faculty review process seems to be taking all the best applicants and then picking the best of the best...i don't think my numbers will get me through this game. I also feel bad about the laziness I exerted into the application. If I would have put the effort into berk. that I put into yale (more LORS/targeting/better essays) it could have been different. @ this point, I think they're just saving me cuz they want some CA residents on the waitlist

Re: Berkeley 2010
Got faculty review with a <25% GPA and >75% LSAT. I know I'm still a longshot with my numbers, but being in the top 1400-1600 makes me feel better about my chances at similarly esteemed schools that value the LSAT more.

5PM. I'm guessing no more news for today? Does anyone think they'll continue the FR e-mails tomorrow?

If Berkeley doesn't let you in, I'm gonna be pissed. I mean this in all seriousness.tintin wrote:same here. ugh, i feel like crying. the ONE school i really want to go to and they won't let me in. ugh. pretty sure my chances are gone. only around ~200 get in from faculty review. fml.TheWire wrote:got sent to faculty review...I'm super depressed. I really prefer berk. but if they give me the cold shoulder, I'll give them my frost-bitten middle finger all the way from NYU...

I wrote a 2-page, generic PS by the way, so clearly the 4-pager isn't crucial.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
