gorgeous campus, tiny class size, you will feel good about yourself if you get in because they are so absurdly selective. the end, go fill out your appGeePee wrote:Someone convince me to consider applying to Stanford again. Go!

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
I love the program at Stanford, and I would be thrilled to be accepted, but I have to say that I don't quite get all the talk about the beautiful/gorgeous campus. To my eye, the architecture of the overall campus is hideous. I can't think of an uglier campus in the top 10.owhlcn wrote:gorgeous campus, tiny class size, you will feel good about yourself if you get in because they are so absurdly selective. the end, go fill out your appGeePee wrote:Someone convince me to consider applying to Stanford again. Now, maybe people are referring to the Santa Cruz mountains to the west and the SF Bay to the east. If we're talking about the natural area around the campus, then, yeah, it's very nice. But the campus itself? Bleh.

Wait, I know you aren't talking about the actual bay (water) that lies to the east of Stanford.Dignan wrote:I love the program at Stanford, and I would be thrilled to be accepted, but I have to say that I don't quite get all the talk about the beautiful/gorgeous campus. Just out of curiosity, why do you need convincing? What are your reservations about Stanford?GeePee wrote:Someone convince me to consider applying to Stanford again. Go!

Well, not the water itself. But I think the SF Bay--water included--is very picturesque, both to the north and south of SF. But unless you're up by the dish or something, I suppose you can't get a really good view of the bay from the campus itself.JohnYuu wrote:Wait, I know you aren't talking about the actual bay (water) that lies to the east of Stanford.Dignan wrote:I love the program at Stanford, and I would be thrilled to be accepted, but I have to say that I don't quite get all the talk about the beautiful/gorgeous campus. +1. You can't have crossed the Dumbarton Bridge lately. It's a polluted, unsightly mess over there.

Are you people serious? Stanford is a gorgeous campus. Plus, at what other T6 school can you be sunbathing in December? Yeah okay.

On another note, I can't find a list of index formulas for the 2008-2009 application cycle so can't get a good comparison to actually prove they are placing more weight on the LSAT. But for you skeptics - do a little research; it IS happening this year.

Look at it this way, if everyone else is convinced that Stanford is so awful, they'll be forced to accept us since there will be nobody else in the pool.crackberry wrote:Are you people serious? Totally serious. I think the architecture is ugly. Much of the campus looks like it was planned like a 70s suburban strip mall.crackberry wrote:Are you people serious?
Berkeley, I guess. In any case, there's not much sunbathing happening in the Bay Area this December, that's for sure.crackberry wrote:Stanford is a gorgeous campus. Plus, at what other T6 school can you be sunbathing in December?

Too true. Nature's way of tellling us that we shouldn't pick a school for the weather?Dignan wrote:Totally serious. I think the architecture is ugly. Much of the campus looks like it was planned like a 70s suburban strip mall.crackberry wrote:Are you people serious?

So this is what a "70s suburban strip mall" looks like?Dignan wrote:Totally serious. I think the architecture is ugly. Much of the campus looks like it was planned like a 70s suburban strip mall.

Stanford's campus is gorgeous. How can you not appreciate how green and open it is? The buildings are beautiful and the dorms are nice. Who on earth are you comparing Stanford to? Berkeley has interesting architecture, but the overall campus just doesn't compare.

Re: Stanford 2010!!!
That's the prettiest part of the inner campus, and I still don't like it--a lot of palm trees (which don't belong in NorCal) and pavement.crackberry wrote:Totally serious. There are just so many ugly buildings on campus: Tresidder Union, Meyer Library, and even the law school building.
Look, this is a totally subjective thing. If you think the Stanford campus is beautiful, that's great. (Really.) I just don't care for it. Still, its aesthetic issues aside, I wouldn't hesitate to go to Stanford law. It's an amazing school.

If I were picking a school for the architecture, I'd probably go to the Sorbonne or something. 17th-century French neo-classical buildings are quite pleasant.

Wow, you spelled "Tresidder" right. Did you go to Stanford UG?Dignan wrote:There are just so many ugly buildings on campus: Tresidder Union, Meyer Library, and even the law school building.

Luckily they are tearing down Meyer (supposedly). I agree that building is an eyesore.

Haha, trust me... It's not. My theory is that human beings actually weren't meant to live in areas like this.
Chicago suburbs.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
