got my big purple envelope today!
I couldn't believe it because i got my "complete" email a week ago, but when i got home, my mom said i got mail, and she said, "something from nyu" I almost freaked out. I said, "a big envelope or a little envelope?" and she said "big", I ran into my room (where she puts my mail) and ripped it open!

here are my stats for those interested
i applied ED around Nov 8th, got my complete email a week ago.
3.64 GPA, 172 LSAT.
a couple years work experience, great essay (in my opinion), good extracurriculars.
Hm, same stats, same ED, and it sounds like the same completion date (11/25?). After this acceptance, it will be VERY hard to rationalize if I don't get in this week. You just cranked up the pressure.
i got my completion email December 1st. So less than a week ago.
Best of luck to you. I hope you get in. You never know what they are looking for. It may have been my letters of recs too who knows. But i am telling you - my essay was awesome - i think that was a big part of it. (or maybe i just love my essay)
Good LUCK!!

My essay was essentially the best that's ever been written by anyone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but no international applicants (ie, from Canada) have received letters yet? I applied 10/26, complete 11/17, 17x 3.5x, and wondering if I should have a friend check my mailbox during my trip this week.

if i have a low 170, high 3.9 gpa applied late october and havent heard anything, is that a reason to be nervous? (being that ppl with numbers somewhat in that range have been getting in this first batch?)

As I discussed with an earlier poster, I think you are probably on the right track re: being slightly discouraged if your acceptance hasn't already been mailed. Then again, as someone else pointed out, NYU's yield for this first batch doesn't exactly look promising. I think it would be short-sighted to assume this is the first AND only batch of high-GPA RD types to be accepted.

Looks like first batch is high LSAT priority.... hopefully us high GPAers will hear soon!

Throwing my case into the mix it looks like a high LSAT is necessary, but not sufficient for an acceptance this batch.

I didn't understand this sentence. The first batch clearly placed priority on high GPA, not high LSAT...

+1. There's a very high number of median-below median LSATs with high GPAs here.
I think I must have read that post wrong, considering hopeful agreed with him. Not sure.

And sure, there have been some people admitted with 178s and 180s, but none of them could really be considered splitterish; they'll all HYS-bound.

Necessary? There have been like 10 acceptances on LSN below 170.

Haha, well... you know what I mean. You need high LSAT and GPA, but it looks like the high LSAT scores take priority for now. Then again... there could just be a TLS bias since we don't know what the rest of the acceptances are like.

Yeah, if you look at LSN (which has some overlap with TLS), below-median LSATs have fared much better than below-median GPAs in the early going.
