how do you know if you've received any merit scholarships? is it already supposed to be in the acceptance letter?

Checked my mail last night and got the letter! I'm in!

adp3787 on lsn is me... not sure why i have two different names but i created these accounts before I knew anything about TLS...

With all the talk about the high GPAs, I figured i'd chime in as one of the lower gpas (3.64).

My numbers are pretty much my whole application (i.e. no great softs), so hopefully that can give some confidence to any people in a similar range!

I submitted my app 10/24 and went complete 11/10.

GPA from an Ivy but not HYP. If anyone else has questions for me, let me know.

Ooh, very nice! Definitely glad to see a 3.6 get in. Surely if a 173/3.64 can get in RD, I can get in ED! I, too, have a relatively generic application outside of the numbers, though I did write a tailored PS.

Ahhhh, send me a purple envelope and get this cycle over with!

ok i know this has probably already been discussed and y'all are busy with acceptances and stuff but can anyone answer this? I'm sure you guys have so much more insight than I do, I know nada about NYU admissions. Thanks!!

I have been led to believe that NYU admissions are more predictable (as a result of being a bit more numbers-based) than Berkeley admissions.

Oddly enough, I've actually been led to believe (through various "chances" threads and numerous conversations) that my chances at NYU RD would have been better than my chances at the next three ranekd schools: Chicago, Penn, or Berkeley. People who know more about this stuff than I do seem to think 172 is some kind of magic number to NYU. I don't know to what extent that is true, but I decided to ED just to be safe since NYU is my top choice...

I received similar advice, and also decided to ED just to be safe since NYU is by far my top (realistic) choice...

I'm hoping 174/3.36 + Combat Vet + ED = IN (and soon.. I'm going crazy with worry!!)

God I hope so! When are you planning on moving up there if you get in? (Which I'm pretty confident you will)

Has the originator of this thread (R. Hood) checked in? Clearly, he was one of the first submitters, and his numbers (170/3.7) seem relatively comfortable.

Probably not a whole lot sooner than I need to. I'm making pretty decent money back home. July or August I would imagine.

Ya, if you're making good money at home no reason to move early..

My Sister-in-law lives up there now and actually needs a roommate, so if I get accepted my wife is moving up there in January to look for a job, and I'll follow once she gets one... Man I want to a.) get accepted, and b.) get up there as soon as possible

If my 173/3.64 + Nothing Special gets in and a 174/3.36 war hero doesn't, something is wrong with the system. Best of luck to you, Drew, but I'm feeling pretty confident for you!

No, not unless I got one of the Environmental Law Scholars Program scholarships I applied for.

I'm from NYC. I don't particularly want to go to law school there, and I don't really want to work there after graduation. (Anathema on this board I know.)

Would you?
Yeah, I would at least consider it. I'd be more likely to take Columbia than NYU over Berkeley, but I would definitely at least visit. Although I remember loathing Greenwich Village.

Yes definitely one of my top but have to consider significant other. I probably would take NYU over Columbia though, just from the vibe i get from each.

That's harsh! Ken writes that Greenwich Village provides arguably the highest QOL of any law school....

Greenwich Village was definitely a turn-off for me re: NYU, give me the upper west side any day.

Today I learned that Billy Joel's daughter lives in Greenwich Village, and tried to kill herself. The article did not, however, say whether the two were related.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
