I imagined that you were being sarcastic, but I didn't want some poor soul bursting into tears when they see the aforementioned envelope in their box. And throwing it away without opening it, since they couldn't bear to see the rejection letter.

Re: NYU 2010
Anyone not willing to open a rejection letter because of some faceless name on the internet probably doesn't have the mental fortitude to succeed at a law school like NYU, let alone as a lawyer.managamy wrote:I imagined that you were being sarcastic, but I didn't want some poor soul bursting into tears when they see the aforementioned envelope in their box. Yeesh, just read the last couple pages and the trends are NOT encouraging. Ugh, I have to confess that with my numbers and a tailored PS and ED, I've never actually braced myself for an NYU rejection. Maybe I'll have to start.

Re: NYU 2010
For what it's worth, the lone rejection on LSN appears to be the one described in this thread. If anything, I take this as good news. I'd be more discouraged if LSN clearly confirmed the theory that a batch of exclusively rejections just hit their targets.
EDIT: Also, it's still the case that the admits on LSN nearly all have auto-admit type numbers for NYU, and a vast majority of them are RD.
I think I can tentatively back off the ledge.

And so begins another day of waiting for the mailman disguised as studying for exams. I really need to learn to sleep in.

I just received a complete e-mail today and it came only 1 month after they received my application! I guess this makes me a little less angry that I haven't been accepted yet.

Re: NYU 2010
No decisions today? That's odd. Went from a flood of acceptances, to a few WL/held/Rej, now a bunch of people with decisions from the 9th with no word? Maybe I will get my hopes up a little.

Re: NYU 2010
So I called earlier today to ask about sending in new transcripts. After, I asked about the status of my app and she said that a decision was sent yesterday 12/14. I'm RD stats on LSN...without looking into the past pages of the thread, does this mean anything one way or another? (i.e are there batches of acceptances/rejections like GULC, does a DR mean YAY, etc.)
Thanks NYU hopefuls

Re: NYU 2010
I'm keeping my numbers relatively private until the end of my cycle, but I got in RD 12/1 with nearly identical numbers (a little lower, in fact). I'm on LSN, but my numbers aren't posted there either. In any case, don't lose hope!!LieutKaffee wrote:Yeesh, just read the last couple pages and the trends are NOT encouraging. Don't really have an answer, but I do have a question! When did you go complete? I'm basically your stats twin; I submitted on 11/12 and got the complete e-mail on 12/1.TheWire wrote:So I called earlier today to ask about sending in new transcripts. Re: NYU 2010
I think I sent my app about the same day as you and went complete 12/8. However, I feel that I may have been complete before then. I called on the morning of the 8th to inquire as to why I hadn't received a complete e-mail yet. They told me that I went complete recently and should receive an e-mail soon. I got the e-mail later in the day. In any case, I think your decision may be on the way as well and a call to the office might ease (or raise) your anxiety.

So far, only one reject and one waitlist from NYU, and both were ED. Every RD decision so far has been an acceptance. I'll try to take a peek at last year's timeline. Hopefully good news for you!

Re: NYU 2010
In 08-09, the first reject was an ED applicant on 12/15. She was rejected from several lower schools and had a 3.37, so she doesn't appear to be an exceptional applicant.
The first RD to get a non-accepted decision went complete 12/17, decision 12/26. 171/3.41. This applicant was waitlisted, not rejected.
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/rpepper
The next 2 RD non-acceptances with reasonable numbers found out in January. Both were rejected. The 169/3.6 submitted 10/29, complete 11/25, decision 1/19. The 169/3.72 went complete 11/18 and got a decision 1/19 (no "submitted" date).
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/goobot
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/gondolli
Also, at least 37 RD acceptances with only 2 "reasonable" early rejects (166/3.9; 167/3.68). Still, these numbers aren't really in either of our neighborhoods. The rpepper was the earliest with the same LSAT, although a good bit lower GPA, and he was waitlisted, not rejected. He was also one non-accepted applicant within probably 80+ accepted amongst those on LSN with decisions by Christmas.
This appears to be a significantly positive sign for you - good luck!

I guess that makes me feel a little better? Went complete 11/03, still nothing. I guess if I get rejected, it won't be until next year. So I can stop checking obsessively and feeling dejected every day.

Same here, Saya. Same dates as you. We're just going to have to wait it out. I'm blaming it on the international status.Saya wrote:I guess that makes me feel a little better? Re: NYU 2010
FYI, according to AD it looks like at least two people who went complete on 11/3 and 11/8 got offers ( http://www.admissionsdean.com/law_schoo ... applicants ) -- for what it's worth since this is a much smaller sample than LSN.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
