deferred from ED here...
i snail mailed a loci March 12, but haven't received email confirmation that they received it. what should be my next step? Email inquiring whether it has been added to my file? Email a pdf version and say in case you didn't get the snail mail one? Thanks!

I didn't get an email asking for a LOCI. I guess they don't care about how much I care about them.

Re: Columbia 2010
I guess there's going to be a rejection in my mailbox then, because I was on Hold since Feb, and haven't received any such e-mail. I sent a three liner within the body of an e-mail expressing a few points about why I like Columbia and attached a resume.PoorOrpheus wrote:I just received an e-mail (I am a hold) asking me for a letter of continuing interest. I did send one last week and am assuming the office has not processed it, but I thought people here might be interested/also received it.
Hmm...

Re: Columbia 2010
That is what I did - i sent an email with a pdf of the original letter I sent (I was a bit paranoid and made sure to use the original file which was created back in february), and a line saying 'now that you're looking at the hold folks, I want to confirm the committee got my loci'. They responded the next day with the standard "thanks this letter will be added to your file" email.hopefullaw27 wrote:deferred from ED here...

Re: Columbia 2010
Ummm, any reason someone on hold wouldn't have received the email? I sent in my LOCI last week and they sent me the standard "we will add this letter to your file."
Maybe they didn't remind me to send one now because I just did it last week? But some of you are saying you recently sent in LOCIs as well and still got the email.
I am forced to conclude that I have already been accepted

Re: Columbia 2010
Well, they've already put us on hold. That means they need to review the application again before making any decision.
They don't want to review the application until any additional materials have been submitted (LOCI, LOR). Hence the reminder.
If they haven't reviewed the held apps yet, then they couldn't have made any decisions.
And I don't think they would have just not sent the email to the undesirables.

I dunno, I'm starting to think my cycle is not typical, at least as far as Columbia goes. I think they might literally not like me.IAFG wrote:bai got one, i didn't. i think this bodes poorly for those of us who did not recieve the email.

Re: Columbia 2010
Dear PoorOrpheus:
We hope you are enjoying your spring. As we continue to evaluate applications for the Columbia Law School Class of 2013, we are also reviewing candidates whom we placed on "Hold" earlier in the admissions season. This year's applicant pool continues to be among the largest and most highly qualified in our history; therefore, we would like to encourage you, if you have not already done so, to submit a statement of continuing interest in Columbia that includes new pertinent information, if any. To the extent possible, kindly limit the statement to one page. Please send the statement to Danielle Flores, Assistant Director of Admissions, at danielle.flores@law.columbia.edu, no later than April 7, 2010. Upon receipt of your correspondence, we will add the statement to your file but will not be able to confirm receipt of individual statements.
At this date, we also understand that you might have committed to another law school for the next three years. While we are saddened by the loss of your candidacy, we would appreciate it if you could notify us of this as soon as possible by contacting Danielle Flores at danielle.flores@law.columbia.edu.
Please be advised that should you remain under consideration, we will make every effort to mail your decision no later than the date specified in your letter. Thank you again for your continued patience and interest in Columbia Law School.
Warm wishes,
Nkonye Iwerebon
Dean of Admissions

Is there anyone with numbers below both 25th percentiles that hasn't heard anything? 168/3.0 here, applied in January. I'm really puzzled as to why they're taking so long with my rejection.

If both of those conditions hold true, and you've also received a rejection letter. Otherwise, nobody knows.hiromoto45 wrote:If you have not been held and or applied after the New Year are you out?
