My parents did get the mail today and the only thing in it was a rejection from Texas, which I assume is surprisingly bold yield protection.

Not as scary as it sounds. Anecdotal evidence elsewhere suggests that Texas has already admitted all of the slots it has available for out-of-state students and has started rejecting everyone still pending who is not a Texas resident.
