Was just held today as well... which I'm somewhat positive about in the sense that at least I think it might allow me to gauge how competitive my app's will be at CCN... it's been hard to tell how things would go given my background since by traditional standards I should have been ding'ed...

[170/3.65 Harvard undergrad...PhD Neurobiology]

although I'm certainly not holding my breath for Harvard... perhaps four years in Cambridge was enough for me

do you think I should write my LOCI on how through genetic testing I realized I'm actually latino [even though I'm not]...lol, jk

Held with a 180 and 3.7+? No JR1 either?

What the what!?!?
180s a retake. I'm not that interesting, I guess, though I have a few softs.

Yeah I don't like this at all. Tough break grrrstick but a hold is just a hold - still plenty of reason to be hopeful.

Do you mind sharing what your first LSAT score was?

161, so maybe they do average after all. I'm not upset, but I would be shocked if a hold is something other than a soft ding.

hm, not sure... my situation was weird since I retook the LSAT... I had originally applied early November... but then froze my app mid-Nov after I registered to retake last minute... but my profile online had said UR since mid-Nov, they just never changed the status, most likely, they started reviewing again Jan 11th or so...

Held at Harvard. No JR1. URM with LSAT > 75% and GPA < 25%.

Okay, just saw that I have the Harvard email in my inbox. After coming on here I'm hoping for a hold. I'm pissing my pants right now cause I'm scared to open it.

Whew. You're right. It's a hold. Should this be taken as a good sign? I've seen people with similar stats that have been outright rejected. Or does this simply mean that they haven't really looked at my app closely yet? I guess this has to be taken as a good sign considering my borderline stats 171/4.0. What's everybody else's game plan for sending additional info?

Wow, there are a ton of people held with amazing numbers... makes me think this cycle IS really tougher throughout all the tiers.

Might I say holy crap? That is quite an impressive improvement. I wish I could play sound on here so I could give you some applause.

I'm not sure it's tougher - but Harvard in particular seems less predictable this cycle than in past years.

Hmm... well i dunno it just seems on LSN that a 3.9+ and 173 were basically a 75~80% chance of acceptance prior to this year. There are a ton of 3.9+ and 173 holds right now... maybe they'll turn into acceptances later tho

Seriously. As if a 180 wasn't impressive enough--having your previous score be a 161 takes the cake. I think you've single-handedly inspired thousands of people to retake the LSAT. P.S. What did you do differently? Did you take it blind folded the first time just for fun?

Something like that. I foolishly bought into the idea that its some kind of untrainable IQ test. I am proof that it's not.

Not for me...

But I digress. For those of you who've been held, what is your status on the application status checker?
