It varies person by person. People have received a JR1 e-mail before and after the complete e-mail so don't worry too much about deciphering what it means.
Maybe not the place to ask, but what does JR1 refer to?
The phone interview. JR2 = the acceptance call. JR = Josh Rubinstein, the man who does both of them.
Thank you
That is one acronym that I will not be needing to know.

I'm so excited for the new crop of HLSers. Mostly because I am glad that someone else is going to have to put up with the beast that is 1L year.

Hi guys, I'm new here - also an HLS applicant. Got my JR1 in mid-Dec. Just realized that Jan. 4 is a Monday, which means Josh may issue the next batch of JR2's...

SO why is 1L such a beast? Any advice for potential new students?

Do JR1s just occur randomly? Or do you receive an email first telling you to wait for a call at a specific time? Also what is the time frame between submitting and receiving a JR1?

There is no credited "time frame." Some people have received JR1's less than a week after going UR, and some people have gotten them 6 weeks after. As for the JR1 itself, you get an email about a week in advance setting up a time frame for the call.

I'm curious - did you retake the LSAT in December? I'm trying to see if schools are considering the new scores.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
