It's okay, I've had some time to adjust. Plus it was totally expected.the_rad_trad wrote:beef wellington wrote:I did. I've been setting myself up to be rejected from everywhere. So if that happens, I figure I'll either go to design school then reapply for law school, or work with a Paris-based firm for a year then reapply. But I'm really hoping that doesn't happen.

I did, and was accepted. Sounds like a really cool program, although when I visited, I bumped into a random student who was less than thrilled with it (mentioned how it was rather useless since it was essentially all theoretical, but that it did signal to employers that you really liked intl law). Then again, this was a Saturday night and he was studying on campus, so that might have had something to do with his opinion.the_rad_trad wrote:Question for applicants/admitted: Anyone here apply to the dual JD/LLM program? Yea, I have to say that I'd be less than thrilled if I were stuck studying on campus on a Saturday night...oh wait, I already do that.dontstopbelivin wrote:I did, and was accepted. It actually didn't seem THAT bad, to be honest. There was a Chinese New Year party going on down in the cafeteria, and lots of people walking through the halls having lively conversations. Plus, I did interrupt that kid "studying"/watching YouTube videos. Maybe campus is just the place to hang out pre-evening plans?the_rad_trad wrote:Yea, I have to say that I'd be less than thrilled if I were stuck studying on campus on a Saturday night...oh wait, I already do that.dontstopbelivin wrote:I did, and was accepted. Sounds good to me. Is it your top or are there other schools you're waiting for/leaning towards?dontstopbelivin wrote:It actually didn't seem THAT bad, to be honest. Re: In at Duke!
Back and forth - I really like the programs, and everyone I've talked to (for the most part) loves it. I'm a city girl, though, which could make Durham a hard adjustment. Plus the dual-degree makes it much more expensive. I need to visit a few more places, but for some reason Duke keeps pulling me back in.the_rad_trad wrote: Sounds good to me. So my status checker's been at "Decision made; we will notify you soon" all day, but I never got an e-mail. Duke's mean.

Re: In at Duke!
I've been UR since 11/9. NOVEMBER NINTH, DUKE!! It changed to UR 12/14...on 12/14. Nothing since.
Should I call them tomorrow to see what's going? This is really annoying me. What do I say if I call them?

Another question (I'm too lazy to look back in the previous postings): About how long did it take for your file to go from "Ready to Review" to "Under Review"? Thanks!

Did you have a "decision made" status before you received the email? This is not helping me fall asleep, knowing they send decisions after 10pm.justbluemyself wrote:Got an acceptance email just now (some poor soul is sitting in the admissions office at 10 pm- Why?!). Exciting!

Sorry to those above who've not received a decision yet, I feel your pain.

Re: In at Duke!
As a WL'ed JD/LLM applicant, do you guys think I should tell them I'm interested in the regular JD program too? Or does that pretty much go without saying. I think I remember seeing that it's not any easier to get into one program or the other, so maybe it wouldn't even improve my chances. It might even worsen them if it makes me look flaky? What do you think?

Re: In at Duke!
Before I applied, I called the admissions office to find out if you could be considered for the regular JD if you weren't accepted to the LLM part. They told me if you're not accepted to the LLM, you're still automatically considered for the plain JD, although I'm not sure how that applies to the WL.beef wellington wrote:As a WL'ed JD/LLM applicant, do you guys think I should tell them I'm interested in the regular JD program too? My suggestion would be to contact the admissions office and let them know you're really interested in Duke regardless of which program (maybe put this in your LOCI?) I doubt it would make you look flaky - instead, I would guess it makes you look more appealing since you're obviously interested in the school. You may have already been considered by the ad comm for both the dual degree and the regular JD, but it can't hurt to say something to them to this effect.

Sorry, no clue if the website changed before or after I got the email. It says "decision rendered" now.
Incidentally, I am also a member of the tribe. I wonder if this was "show the Jews some love" day at Duke. Hah.
