I wish, that would make my life. Now I'm kind of wishing I'd written a Why Duke...Kronk wrote:maggiebre wrote:I have the same received date, but no scholarship decisionJericwithers wrote:OMG me too! 12/3 received date, and I am so scared.dms87 wrote:Scholarship decision mailed 2/16!
I'm super nervous, as this is likely where I'll end up (unless I somehow get into Harvard).
Maybe you ARE getting a Mordecai invite.

Re: In at Duke!
I'm hoping my scholly outdoes my numbers a little bit (171/3.75), since I visited Duke, wrote a Why Duke?, and had really nice conversations with the only 2 people who answer phones in the financial aid office. The lady was telling me her whole life story (about her divorce, kids, moving, etc.) in addition to advice on financial aid matters. I gave her my name, so I'm optimistically hoping it makes any [positive] difference at all....
She even told me (quietly) that I can negotiate the offer, which I thought was a pretty funny thing to be told by a financial aid officer.
My fiancee got into UNC dental and that's her top choice, so we really want to go there.

If we were to negotiate, does anyone know how we'd do so? Is email alright--or should I scan / fax my offer from another school?

How does Duke acknowledge receipt of the scholarship form? Email or status checker? I faxed mine Friday but haven't heard anything yet.

It did appear that the stipend was only for the ASW, although I could be wrong.ranovr32 wrote:$150, down from $250 last yearadameus wrote:Does duke offer any money to visit?

0L,
Why Chicago over NYU IYHO?
Reading the profiles on TLS is so humorous...they are almost saying "We are exact opposites"

Chicago has an edge over NYU and Duke in California placement. Only HYS would do better there.TheWire wrote:Yea, not bad. Have you visited the schools yet? I know a lot of people that like Chicago more than NYU. But, you're comparing one of the best areas in NY to a relatively poor area of Chicago. At least, that's the vibe that I've been getting. I'm destined for NYU, so it would be less competition for me anyways

I was thinking the same thing, but then I figured I'd rather not talk about that degree mill. Public schools? Apparently Duke's new fun trick is to update my status checker every day. I'ma call Jay Bilas and get this ish sorted out.

IMO Chicago edges out Boalt in California (especially in LA/SD), and matches Columbia.BioEBear2010 wrote:Not to mention the tenuously ABA-accredited ColumbiaKronk wrote:There's a little place caleld BoalTTT I'd like to introduce you to...im_blue wrote:Chicago has an edge over NYU and Duke in California placement. Seriously good point. Any law school with a class size 200+ is a certifiable degree mill. Which is why I spend my nights laughing at Yale's class last year, DLOL. Way to over enroll, losers.Jericwithers wrote:I was thinking the same thing, but then I figured I'd rather not talk about that degree mill. Public schools?
