I haven't received anything from W&M - what does it say?
+1

"The number of highly qualified applicants greatly exceeded the positions available...[oh and by the way] final decisions may be made as late as mid-August [so just withdraw retard]."

Haha, don't forget:

"...we urge those placed on our wait list not to forgo desirable alternatives while waiting for a final decision from William & Mary."

If they wanted me to withdraw, they got their wish. It felt good too!

Count me in. I'm actually happy b/c I knew they weren't going to flat out accept me (3.77/157- damn you LSAT). Word in the forum is they take a bunch off people from their WL. Is this true? I love W&M and would go in a heartbeat.

What forum is this? I was WL last year, and despite my best research, could only find 7 or 8 people who were extended offers from the WL throughout the summer. Maybe I missed something?

Yeah, from my understanding the W&M waitlist is almost as much of a rejection as an outright rejection.

According to LSN their yield is only 20% so I'd imagine there is some WL movement.

Uh wow. Waitlisted at W&M. My stats are 152/3.7, Caucasian and only one year removed from undergrad. This is a shock, although I know I clearly do not have a chance getting off this waitlist. I can now officially say that I have been waitlisted at schools within the 1-4 tier range. What is the deal with W&M? What purpose or benefit do they get by waitlisting everyone and their mothers? False hope is a cruel cruel thing.

True, although I'm sure they take this % into account when deciding how many acceptances to send out in the first place.

I guess the question then is whether the 20% applies to initial acceptances, in which case there would be no need for a waitlist, or whether it covers all acceptances including those off the waitlist. In any case, lets hope for the best!

WL today, and I have no idea what to do.
If I withdraw from the waitlist, it's SMU. Thoughts anyone? I want to practice in Texas or DC.

Still nothing. Frustrating, as I'm trying to plan my trip to the DC area :?

Got the letter today. Must say, I'm not at all surprised and actually slightly happy considering my numbers. I'll withdraw if I get an acceptance from basically...anywhere else.

WL today as well, but they sent a letter to my parents saying I need more information for financial aid package. Did anyone else get this?

Got the letter today... went on the waitlist as soon as I could, but from reading this thread, a WL isn't a good thing? Damn.

Haven't heard anything yet, looks like it's waitlist or rejection for me. There's something a little coarse in the way that some of these schools handle admissions, isn't there? I mean, suppose one of the schools that I've yet to hear from admits me in the next few days; I'll have less than two weeks to decide. What If I want to visit the campus? I'm not sure that this would be feasible on such short notice. I'm sure I'll change my tune if accepted, but at the moment I'm feeling a bit worn down from all the apprehension and waiting.

yeah...its really crazy how the waiting get exhausting....i totally thing worn down is an accurate expression....

Also go the WL letter yesterday. I'm a bit surprised I wasn't outright rejected, even if the W&M WL can seem to be the same thing.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
