Here is my totally unfounded wild speculation:

They began reviewing applications around the 15th, maybe earlier, based on the order in which they were received. If your status checker changed to "decision" it means that they were able to make a quick decision about your application (hopefully just admits :) ). If your "in review" date changed it means that they decided your application warranted further review and will be reviewed again once they have gone through all of the applications once, sort of like being on hold at many schools. If your status checker says "in review" and the date has not changed they probably have not reviewed your application yet.

Not sure if this is correct, especially since I should not be an auto-admit or auto-reject and my status checker already changed to "decision," but it seems like a reasonable guess and hopefully it will spark some interesting and useless debate.

I totally agree with your speculation but didn't want to say as much as it was based on absolutely no real knowledge :).

It's common to get a decision from UW through mid-February.

I'm still listed as in review, with a status date of 1/23. The funny thing is, though, they changed the status date this past Wednesday (1/28). My mailing dates are listed the same as yours.

What I've decided is that I may get in... but if I don't, I don't. Tomorrow (technically today) the mountains near me have a lot of newfallen snow and I need to be more concerned about getting out and doing some skiing. Law school will sort itself out at this point.

Sounds like they have not made the decision on you yet. I dont think that is necessarily good or bad. Hopefully next batch, good luck buddy :)

UW a top choice for you? I live about an hour out of Seattle and UW is pretty much the top of my list, I love the NW and have alot of roots here.

I got changed in the last day or two to say "Decision 1/22". I swear it was just in the last day or two, it'd been saying "In Review 12/30" until then...

UW is THE top choice for me. I lived in Seattle for a couple of years, have a lot of friends in the city, absolutely love the place and want to work my way back there.

Im sure its on its way!! At least you know its coming soon, the only thing I've gotten from them is the same repeated e-mail letting me know that my advisor still hasnt sent in Form B.

Which is odd becuase I met with her about four months ago and watched her fill it out, apparently postage is just getting too tricky for some...

this may have been posted, i didn't go through this whole thread but...does anyone know anything on the Dean situation? I know the dean at UW resigned cause of fights going on between faculty and stuff, does anyone know if they have a replacement yet, or any other info on this?

She was one of the finalists out of a few people, but I don't think they've announced the replacement yet.

they just replied to an email I sent them today (telling me my 'sent' date was a coding date and the first round of decisions is supposed to hit my mailbox- and presumably everyone else's- on Monday morning). I live in Philly.

I am incompetent. On a second read they are sending out the first batch of acceptances on Monday FROM Washington so I guess it'll probably be.... Thursday. Maybe Wednesday.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
