Re: Anybody heard back from SMU?
I am assuming we all got this but a few moments ago I got this email from Acting Dean of Admin....
Dear XXXXXX,
Due to the unprecendented increase in applications that SMU Dedman School of Law has received for the Fall 2009 incoming class, we must extend our decision deadline. We hope to mail decisions no later than May 11th. We understand that you may have conflicting deposit deadlines and appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.
Thank you,
Jill B. Nikirk, J.D.

I'm wondering what all the Decision Rendered that went out today are then.

no status change, but got the 4/30 mailing sent as well. I'm assuming its a reiteration of the email we all got.

Re: Anybody heard back from SMU?
yeah that's a note on your file saying you got the email they just sent out. They probably hoped to get all of the applications done and the 'decision rendered' people are who they were rushing through... don't know what that means about their fate.

Re: Anybody heard back from SMU?
I have a sneaky suspicion that decision rendered are rejections - no phone calls yet right?

Re: Anybody heard back from SMU?
I'm sure this info is somewhere on the site, but does someone know off the top of their heads when the 1st/2nd/3rd/whatever seat deposits are? Anything around May 11th that would make it seem like they are waiting to see if they get more withdraws before sending out the rest of the decision letters?

Re: Anybody heard back from SMU?
I believe the are May 15/June 15.
I also believe Decisions rendered today are rejections. No Phone calls, and it seems like rejections are easier calls then WLs or borderline WLs.

No phone call. So I'm probably rejected. FYI - LSAT 160; GPA 3.0 (mathematics minor in Physics from Tx private school); lots of softs - patent bar, work exp, etc....

Re: Anybody heard back from SMU?
Why didn't you apply to FT & PT? With those #'s I'd have to like your chances at SMU's PT program.Lizzy081881 wrote:No phone call. So I'm probably rejected. FYI - LSAT 160; GPA 3.0 (mathematics minor in Physics from Tx private school); lots of softs - patent bar, work exp, etc....
I also got the Deadline Postponement Email...ugh
My Status says "Held For Further Review" on 01/29/09 but I also got that thing under mailings. It's Blank but it says 4/30/09...hmm

I agree with the statement that 4/30/09 mailings probably means the email we got in the event that there was no change in your status.

I think the email is a good thing! Look its not a rejection, it just means we are all on the cusp, either in or waitlist.
This year looks to be an anamoly with such an influx of apps due to the economy. I bet alot of the ppl who applied bc of the economy and put their deposit down are going to drop like flies shortly. Good for us.

If the decision rendered change is clearing the stack so to speak, I hope it does not mean the same thing at Tech...I switched to decision rendered there as well today.

Hopefully decisions are made tomorrow!
I withdrew today! I really hadn't even thought about withdrawing because I figured they had already accepted most of their class. Thanks for knocking some sense back into me! Good luck to the rest of y'all!

Got the postponement e-mail too. I still haven't received ANYTHING from SMU, not even a held for review. Wow

I also have decision rendered with no mailings... do you think they mailed out letters today?
Also, i have a friend at SMU who never received a call when she was accepted last year. So don't give up hope
