Re: Yale c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
Checking in! Originally thought that I have no chance at Yale but then found out that I'm poor enough for the need-based waiver (got them at every other school I asked for) so thought I would try my luck!
I have made the poor decision of handing in my app rather quickly and THEN snooping through the Ask Asha blog, student perspectives blog, and TLS Yale threads.
My College Activities attachment was 2 pages...I went into quite a lot of detail...hope it won't hurt me too badly

In the past, first wave decisions have come out next week... any thoughts on whether that'll be the case again this year, especially with Asha gone?

First time poster here... submitted a couple weeks ago but seeing posts on TLS and elsewhere are making me freak out about my List of College Activities. It's three pages, because I thought they were looking for a thorough description of my college activities, jobs, etc. So I listed most of them (just the significant ones) and spent about 1/3-1/2 page of spaced-out bullet points on each. Do you think this was a bad move? My post-college activities was just a page.

I have the same worry except in the opposite direction I wrote 8 lines of text indicating hours without any descriptions. I think most people wrote pretty detailed liststhrowawayyale wrote:First time poster here... submitted a couple weeks ago but seeing posts on TLS and elsewhere are making me freak out about my List of College Activities. Also me: *sees that you posted the same thing in every thread, realizes you could've just posted in the TLS Class of 2021 page*
Also also me: oK, law school apps are up 12%, but mine are still submitted either way. Glad to see my generation doesn't look at the Trump administration and stare idly into a helpless abyss; instead they empower themselves to (re)act!!! A wonderful time to apply to law school because it suggests there a bunch of politically-conscious folks out there who want to make a difference in the world IMO.

also me: i hope this girl isn't triggered/offended by this article. like i said in another thread, maybe law isn't for you if you're that easily shooken.
also also me: YES. I totally agree with your last assessment. I just said it was a bad time, relative to past years, to apply to law school. I never said I wasn't proud of my fellow applicants for feeling empowered and more tuned into politics. These two sentiments are NOT by any means mutually exclusive, and I'm happy were on the same page.

Generally, you might want to consider being wary of your usage of "triggered" though. I realize that my response was slightly unwarranted, but just keep in mind that people who actually struggle with mental illness and/or are triggered by certain things as a result of lived experience(s) might be hurt by flippant usages of the word itself. All to say, you just never know what someone's dealing with when you're talking to them online! (((I'm fine, though, just advocating for others )))
Again, though, welcome to TLS, and best of luck to you this cycle!!!! I'm sure you'll crush it !
