Is anyone visiting the campus soon? I would like to visit and mention it in my Why Davis statement.

Checking in!
Most likely won't be able to visit, since I'm based in NYC, but it sounds like it'd be a great thing to mention in your Why Davis statement if you're able to do it.

Wow, Davis has a Job Termination Addendum.
Do other law schools ask you if you have been terminated from a job?

How long is your personal statement for UC Davis. Mine will be right under 2 pages even though they have a 4 page maximum.

I think Davis accepts GRE now.
I got this from application instructions.
APPLICATION CHECKLIST
The required application materials are:
Application for Admission.
Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score for test taken between June 2012 and February 2018 [preferred] OR Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score for test taken between September 2012 and October 2017.

Recently submitted my UC Davis app. I split the four pages between a personal statement and a diversity statement.
Did anyone get a confirmation when y'all submitted your apps? I havent received anything yet

Also, as a plug for Davis, they have a REALLY nice law school in addition to a family of otters that live in the campus river

I got an "application received" email a day after submitting my application, but that was mid-September. Maybe things have slowed down a bit.Par0lEvid3nce wrote:

I called admissions. They said it takes about 1-2 weeks to process applications so we should expect some type of email from Davis within that time frameandysimbi wrote:I got an "application received" email a day after submitting my application, but that was mid-September. Davis was on my radar early on as it seems like a great school. I am just hesitant on settling my family in such a small city. Is anyone there? I have seen information on public transit, but I don't know what to make of it from a pragmatic viewpoint.
(My current city of 250K has public transit but while it exists, it's not very convenient in the way that transit in San Diego, Seattle, or Seoul is, in my experience.)
If you graduate from Davis, where would you ideally practice?

I grew up in Davis! Davis is a small city, so most people opt to bike, it's super biker friendly. There are also plenty of bus line options, so transportation should definitely not be a concern! The city is great for families, very safe. I know a lot of UCD law graduates end up practicing in Sacramento or San Francisco.DorkothyParker wrote:Davis was on my radar early on as it seems like a great school. Does anyone have any idea when Davis will start reviewing applications? My status has said "awaiting evaluation" for the past 3 weeks.

I would like to echo these comments. Davis also has excellent K-12 schools if you have children. There is also family-oriented housing that is super close to the law school.paralegaltolawyer3 wrote:I grew up in Davis! Davis is a small city, so most people opt to bike, it's super biker friendly. If you graduate from Davis, where would you ideally practice?
Graduates primarily practice in Sacramento and the Bay Area. Several people also land in LA/OC/SD, but those people generally have ties to SoCal.
Can also answer questions about the school in general (Davis 3L here).

Can you give us some insight about the law school community? I’ve heard the students are reaaaaally supportive of each other, which is amazing lolpolitibro44 wrote:I would like to echo these comments. Davis also has excellent K-12 schools if you have children. Re: UC Davis Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Sure, but it's hard to really know without comparing it to other law schools. If I had to guess, Davis is probably more supportive than average because its a small community and Davis is relatively isolated.
IME the atmosphere is very supportive, especially after Fall semester of 1L. Even Fall 1L is not too bad, but there are competitive gunners at every school. There were a few times I felt "blocked out" of a study group or was uninvited. Though this didn't bother me too much because I didn't use study groups much; it was only when exams came around I wanted to use them. Those experiences were overwhelmingly in the minority. I just don't want you to get the impression it's a giant "collegial" love-fest every day; it's still law school, and law students are neurotic and competitive.
Despite that, I found the majority students extremely supportive, and in particular, the 2Ls and 3Ls were awesome. They provide you with general law school advice, outlines, and give you insight on 1L professors. You are paired up with a 2L or 3L in the very beginning who acts as a mentor of sorts. There's also an Academic Success Program that places a 2L or 3L in each of your 1L classes. Those TAs tend to have done well and like helping out 1Ls. I found the TAs to be a great resource for all sorts of things.

Re: UC Davis Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
No idea! Judging from what I'm reading from last cycle, it could take anywhere from one week to months, more likely 1-3 months. I went UR last week, so I was (optimistically) hoping maybe something in the next couple of weeks. However, a lot of people who went UR in November/around Thanksgiving in the last cycle didn't hear until mid-January.gmg wrote:Any thoughts on when we'll start to hear back?
