In with a Butler. Above 75, K-JD, submitted mid-November and no interview. Those who are feeling ghosted like I was, keep hoping!

Interviewed and it went really well. I loved my interviewer; she was incredibly easy to talk to and was genuinely interested in my application materials, job goals & hobbies/interests ect.

You are giving me too much hope! Basically same stats, yet not a word from Columbia. I don't think I'm getting in, let alone a Butler.. Lots of congrats to you though, it is comforting to know my stats buddy is having a great cycle!LawSSS wrote:172dollarez wrote:Congrats!!!! mind if I ask for stats? Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
GOT THE HAMILTON (not just now but two hours ago).
So excited. Although my excitement has died down a bit because people are still telling me to turn it down for Harvard but honestly I think that'd be a terrible decision. My colleague (who's an attorney) is telling me he literally sees no difference between HLS and CLS in his hiring decisions, which reassured me a bit.
Stats are 176 and 3.81, so I was very surprised considering I'm on the lower edge.

Yep. Got a short email that basically said “thanks. This has been added to your file.” Within a day or twodollarez wrote:That's good to hear! I think it depends what you want to do. If I get a Hamilton (and get into HLS), I'll be torn. But this is mostly because I'm interested in being a law professor, and Harvard's faculty has professors that interest me more.solennita wrote:I've been having similar reactions & am hoping to talk through this with more people - it's definitely tough! I got the email and thought, okay- this makes my decision so easy, but some attorneys that I work with have been making it sound like it wouldn't be the best decision to take it over HLS...Saami wrote:GOT THE HAMILTON (not just now but two hours ago).

went complete in late October
softs: asian female, killer recs and resume, 2 years work experience
Seems that my softs really came into play this cycle for Columbia (I haven't heard back from NYU, waitlisted at Penn, accepted at UChicago) considering my lower GPA - I think that might be why some of the above median folk haven't heard back yet! Good luck!!!
I'm not sure actually. I just included for reference.

Alright, if we're above both 75's, went complete late November, and we haven't heard anything, is it basically over?
My paranoia might be unwarranted but I just don't have enough information to make myself feel better about what's going on.
Is it too early in the acceptances cycle to give up hope? In previous cycles, did people above both 75's who went complete before December continue to get accepted well past January?

I just called my grandma to let her know and her first response was "but what about Harvard?" I'm definitely leaning toward Columbia though, cause honestly why would I take out $100K+ in debt to say I went to Number 3 over Number 5? Yes, I'm interested in prestigious public interest positions and that sort of stuff, but it's not like Columbia isn't the type of school to make that career a serious possibility. It's a world-renowned school, and some amazing alumni have passed through its doors. Maybe I'll have to work a little harder to be seen as equal with a Harvard student but if I'm graduating with no debt I see that was well worth the difference.

Ok, well, this makes me feel a bit better if it’s happened to other people. I think our anxiety makes us hold on to their every word and if they’re off by a few days we freak out. A few posts back someone mentioned having interviewed in late December and getting in now, so I’m thinking maybe hearing a month after the interview isn’t so bad. All in all, Columbia is moving fast because I submitted Thanksgiving week and interviewed second week of January.throwaway1919 wrote:Ditto. It’s not over til it’s over, y’all! But I wish they’d put me out of my torture already. Good vibes to all!

Confused and not finding a clear answer on the website: does Columbia not give any merit scholarships aside from Butlers and Hamiltons?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
