I applied ED as well and have not received an invitation. I was a little discouraged given that some candidates who’ve applied RD received invitations, but at the Open House I went to they emphasized that interviews are not indicative of acceptance, rather they are to clear doubts. I don’t know how true that is, but I can’t imagine too many of us not being admitted without an interview and I consider myself a pretty strong candidate (current UoC grad student, etc).

I think either way you look at it it's a good thing. They're either considering you seriously and you've moved further in the process, or they want to get to know you better and you have the chance to make yourself look better!

+2, and waitlisted to Berkeley just now which makes me sad but I love Chicago / the Midwest more so I would be more depressed to get dinged/WL'ed at Chicago!
