Hi, is it pretty easy getting into big law firms after graduating from Wake? I love NC but I probably want to work close to family in Los Angeles, Orange County or San Francisco. What are your thoughts on this?WakeLaw16 wrote:Recent graduate here. Happy to answer any questions.

Did anyone's requirements list change to deposits and such? was it always like that or does that mean something?

Are you from California? It can be somewhat difficult to break into the market, especially for SF>SHESREADY4LAW wrote:Hi, is it pretty easy getting into big law firms after graduating from Wake? If you have the grades, you have a good shot.

I can pretty safely say that there is no one in my class working Cali biglaw. There were some people that moved back to the West Coast after graduation though. I'd recommend against Wake if you aren't fine with staying in NC after in graduation, especially if you want to move to California. Biglaw in general is really hard to get from Wake (likely need to be in the top 10-15%). Not a lot of the mega-firms make it down to Winston for OCI. There are firms like Womble Carlyle, some regional firms and some firms from Charlotte in Raleigh that might qualify as Biglaw, depending on your definition.SHESREADY4LAW wrote:Hi, is it pretty easy getting into big law firms after graduating from Wake? Sorry, when I meant grades I meant Top 10%ish to have a shot.WakeLaw16 wrote:I can pretty safely say that there is no one in my class working Cali biglaw. I agree. I don't think it is super smart to go to a law school in an area you aren't comfortable residing in. It's just how the majority of regions work. That being said, I think about 1/2 of graduates stay in NC and the other half are scattered, but mostly still on the east coast.WakeLaw16 wrote:I can pretty safely say that there is no one in my class working Cali biglaw. Anyone applying for the two scholarships that require extra essays?
It says the deadline is 12:59 AM on Sunday. I guess that means last night? But that doesn't make any sense. They probably meant 12:59 AM on Monday right? Why would they set the deadline in the middle of the week end? Any hope for submitting the apps today and still having them considered?

Blech. Anyone else get waitlisted on Monday morning? What a great start to my week, thanks Deacs... If I do end up getting in, are my odds for getting scholarship money pretty low? I would guess so.

Hey everyone! I went UR for Wake on 3/1 (submitted early-Jan, but went complete after Feb LSAT score).
How long should I expect to stay UR for? Getting nervous since it's late in the game, and I know scholarship availability is decreasing by the minute! Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Wake Law c/o 2020 Applicants
Greetings TLSers~
As we approach April I thought I'd drop a note of encouragement and information.
We continue to review files but probably won't release any more decisions before our April 5 deposit deadline passes. We are committed to maitaining the small classes that define the Wake Law experience and in years our ranking goes up, especially as to our closest competitors, we worry that our yield projections may not be accurate.
We are sincerely interested in many of the applications currently under review but will most likely be unable to make offers until we see how the offers we've already made pan out. In previous years scholarship awards have remained consistent throughout the cycle even if we've made offers to waitlist candidates. So, being waitlisted or waiting until after the April 5 deadline shouldn't impact the scholarship support we're able to offer.
As always, please contact me directly with questions that arise. We want this process to be as transparent as possible.
Warm regards,
Jay Shively

I (along with other applicants that are still awaiting a decision, I'm sure) greatly appreciate that you took the time to let us know what is happening with the upcoming timeline of admission decisions at Wake Forest. Thank you for your candidness! I look forward to hearing back from Wake Forest sometime after April 5th!

Got an email from Wake this morning reiterating what Dean Shively posted here last week but specifically saying that at worst I'll be wait listed and I'll know by mid-April. Keep an eye on your email if you're looking for any kind of update!

Hi! I was wondering if you could tell me about where students live off campus? I've seen a few places online but am sure you could tell me far more than google can!AT9 wrote:I'm another current 3L and happy to answer questions. Congrats to you admits!
