Re: UCLA Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I haven't gotten a decision yet so I can't speak to sending it in to get off WL but I researched the different journals/centers/clinics, etc. and wrote about why I was interested in specific ones and why my experience in those areas would make me a good candidate. Hope this helps! Good luck!irongirl51 wrote:Got WL'd too. Can someone shed light on the programmatic contribution/why ucla essay? I'm so lost on what that was. And whatever it is, is it a good idea to send now that I'm WL'd? UCLA is my top choice so....HELP.

No response from UCLA yet and I didn't do a programmatic contribution... should I take the risk and send one in now?

Question #15 on the UCLA app:irongirl51 wrote:what is a programmatic contribution?aryi3025 wrote:No response from UCLA yet and I didn't do a programmatic contribution... should I take the risk and send one in now?
(1) If you believe you can make a distinctive contribution to a specific UCLA School of Law Specialization, Academic Program,Joint Degree, Law Review/Journal, or research in a particular subject area (as described at the website: www.law.ucla.edu), please identify one such specific area in the box below.
(2) Explain your prior academic training, work, or extracurricular activities that enable you to make that distinctive contribution. If you need additional space, please go to the "Attachment" tab, click on "Programmatic Contribution," and upload an addendum.

Re: UCLA Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I kept mine under one double-spaced page. Short and sweet, kept it specific but enough to make my point. The adcomms are already reading a ton of stuff so typically I kept supplemental docs like this to a page or under.aryi3025 wrote:do you know if there is a specified length or limit for this essay?goldenbear2020 wrote:Question #15 on the UCLA app:irongirl51 wrote:what is a programmatic contribution?aryi3025 wrote:No response from UCLA yet and I didn't do a programmatic contribution... should I take the risk and send one in now?

I did one. It was about a page and a half and I got waitlisted. I'm in at higher ranked schools with $$ without any "why x" statements. Other school that I did do a "why x" for was Duke and got waitlisted there as well.irongirl51 wrote:futureellewoods123 wrote:I kept mine under one double-spaced page. Don't think it's yp because my LSAT isn't all that high (169), I just really think I was approaching the "why x" wrong and it brought down an otherwise strong app.
So my two cents is only write one if you really have something to say and have other people read it over just like you did for your ps.

Anyone have any insight as to the timeline for hearing back about Epstein admissions?? I was accepted to UCLA in early December, but haven't heard anything about Epstein since.

I heard back in December, about a month after I got in. I think I saw that you got the binding Distinguished Scholar full ride? If that's the case, it may be fair to follow up on it!lazarzhr wrote:Anyone have any insight as to the timeline for hearing back about Epstein admissions?? Is it normal for the UCLA status checker page to not actually have a current status listed? Went complete early January and wondering whether or not my application has been in review...
