Yeah, they offer up to $300 stipend based on a short form you fill out online about need. I got an email inviting me to apply for it.
Thanks. Does need include distance traveled, btw?

If you're in-state I don't think you get anything. Don't know if you are, but FYI. RIP El Paso.

CA actually, so I'm hoping that establishes a good reason for need. :P

The form didn't ask, but I wonder if they sent the email based on my being OOS.

OR you're so great and they think its too good to be true~
Thanks for the positive spin!
"This Why Texas? is amazing. I need to meet this guy ASAP."
"This Why Texas? Is hot garbage. How the fuck did this person ever get a 168 on the LSAT?"
Admitted during the interview. They had a question about something in my background and wanted to make sure I wasn't crazysauce.
They interviewed you face to face. But offered me a Kira machine thing?!

Thanks! I'm excited about this one. Went complete on 10/13. After having heard absolutely nothing, I sent in an unsolicited Why Texas on 1/24. In today. I have to think that helped to move the needle. I have no Texas or even Southern ties.

Is there a consensus on if "Why Texas" essays help? I saw one experience but wasn't sure if that was the norm!

I submitted an unsolicited Why Texas essay like the above poster and was in about a week later. No idea if it helped or not, but figured it couldn't hurt!

I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE

I read on some forum somewhere (don't even remember where bc how much time I spend obsessively browsing) that it's beginning to look like you're probably waitlisted if you haven't heard yet. Is there any truth to that at all?

Probably depends on when you applied. I only went complete 1/4 so I would hope I'm not already on the waitlist

Yea I've come to accept the fact that I'm not going to be accepted to UT. I just need one of my schools to send a scholly offer that way I can start negotiations and end my app cycle.

Went complete 11/22.

From looking at LSN, I think it's random. I was thinking that too, but some people heard in Feb/March who submitted around our time last year, but the decisions were varied :o

ughhhhhhh! I'm trying to balance having hope with not being too optimistic. This sucks. I'm almost ready to just get a ding versus waiting for longer and longer tbh.

I went complete two days later... I've heard back from literally every other school at this point. My co-workers keep excitedly asking me "are you in anywhere else?" and I just look at my phone and scream internally.

+1000

I KNOW. My undergrad thesis faculty advisor just asked me about schools and I'm like we'll talk in like two months when I FINALLY HEAR BACK FROM UT. It wouldn't be as bad even if I was waiting for other schools. I just caaaannnnnnnnnnnnoootttttttt.

What are y'all's thoughts on sending an unsolicited "Why Texas?" Went complete 12/21. Born and raised in Texas, 3rd generation UT undergrad, 1st Uncle that graduated from UT Law back in the good ol' days. In other words, plenty of why Texas material. Stats: 25<LSAT>50; 50<GPA>75. I am also planning on touring and sitting in on a class some time in March. I just felt like I should send in a "Why Texas?" so they don't forget about me ha...

Hmm, generally it seems to be a boost for out-of-state students. But I don't think it'll hurt.
