UR3 12/20 too! Interviewed 11/29, RD. I'm hoping this means early Jan., but I know UR4 is when we truly start sitting on that refresh button.
Is UR4 a necessary condition for a decision?
According to all the "What to Expect" threads it seems to be, and so far the Chicago info has been pretty spot on.

Hi friends I'm here to be la nena mas floja and rather than scrolling through the thread to see if this has been answered I'm gonna pose the question (presumably again):

How similar/different is the Chicago interview from the Columbia interview? Like do they also ask semi-tough questions (not tough per se but like grilling you on your life and your choices)? Any tips would be welcomed with joy and affection

So question about going from ED to "waitlist", because there is some ambiguity even in the FAQ document they provided vs. the email.

Email:
However, your file has been placed on our waitlist. Your application will now be considered as part of our Regular Decision program.
FAQ:
I applied Early Decision and was waitlisted. What does that mean?
Some Early Decision applicants who are not admitted during the Early Decision cycle may be
re-evaluated during the Regular Decision cycle. If an applicant is waitlisted for further review
and reconsidered during the Regular Decision cycle, the admission will no longer be binding
upon the applicant.
The existence of the "may" in the FAQ suggests there is a possibility that the application will not be considered as part of the RD . . . .which is it? Is my app now RD or am I on the waitlist proper? Any thoughts?

I am wondering the same thing, can't seem to decide which one is the correct one. To err on the side of caution should we just think we are straight WL? Maybe they treat it as such and revisit our apps throughout the RD? I would like to email them, but I am pretty bummed out to write to them.

UR date change yesterday, and this may sound dumb but I am not sure if it is UR3 or UR4. I went UR1 on 11/1, UR2 on 11/30, then had an interview on 12/13 and my status changed back to UR with the date of 11/30. The status now continues to say UR but with 12/20 as the date. Did the return to the previous UR date happen to anyone else? Would this be considered UR3 or 4?

Sorry for the confusion, hoping to get some clarity!

Yeah, my gut says to interpret it the most conservatively, unfortunately.

The "Early Decision applicants who are not admitted during the ED cycle" and are NOT re-evaluated during RD are those who got straight up rejected. If you're WL, then you will be re-evaluated during RD.

Also, I was ED that was straight up rejected, but had a ~0% shot with my #s: 3.3/167. Applied because I was Chicago UG and had a guaranteed $150K if I somehow had gotten in. :P But still disappointing. *shrug* Have fun in Hyde Park, those of you who got in! Harper Library is a Hogwarts-esque furnace in the winter; def study there.

Sorry to hear.

Although, I think the question that worries us is

Are we going to be treated and seen as just straight RD apps through the cycle or as WL apps who may only get a second look after the normal RD cycle?

ED and in!

Checked my email randomly and was not expecting to prepare myself for any notifications and had to check twice because it was buried between advertisements from other law schools and I thought it was a holiday greeting email and I've been kicking myself about my interview answers this whole week and this is a long sentence I can't believe this is happening

Bad news for ED waitlisters I'm afraid. Definitely not how I read the FAQ, but per their response:

"All ED individuals waitlisted will be on the same waitlist as future regular decision applicants. Per the FAQ’s – in early May the admissions committee will reach out to those still on the waitlist to gauge continued interest in our program."

same boat. Do interview invites usually come out in the first round of UR? Or has anyone gotten an invite when they're UR2 or 3? Could be that they're just busy with ED applicants... just trying to keep some glimmer of hope alive.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
