I got a call from Liberty last week in which they asked if their "private, Christian" school fit my "world view." Lol.
I got a call from Cardozo yesterday.

Captain's log, stardate 2/28/17. It is going on March as I write this. Donald Trump is president and a 170+ LSAT score has still yet to net me a single acceptance. I know not what alternate universe I have found myself in, but I want out.

You apply to any "safety" schools?Nightwing wrote:Captain's log, stardate 2/28/17. It is going on March as I write this. Donald Trump is president and a 170+ LSAT score has still yet to net me a single acceptance. I know not what alternate universe I have found myself in, but I want out.

Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants
Based on current students talking about their schools it feels like UVA and Mich students LOVE going to their schools, whereas the other t10s are like... it's law school, I went to the best school I could.Like they're happy enough, but it was like 100% a business decision before anything else. Is this a weird impression? Am I totally off-base?

I get the same impression. I can see why. UVA's just charming (and warm weather) and Michigan is Hogwarts.S.Picquery wrote:Based on current students talking about their schools it feels like UVA and Mich students LOVE going to their schools, whereas the other t10s are like... it's law school, I went to the best school I could.Like they're happy enough, but it was like 100% a business decision before anything else. Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants
I definitely get this impression, too. But to be fair, I definitely feel like Michigan and UVA are doing a better job of "selling" their culture/school to me than other schools. Most of the T14 is just like "yeah, we're awesome so you should come here" and talk a lot about their academics/job outcomes, but UVA and Mich have both (imo) tried to sell the whole experience of being a student there, too.S.Picquery wrote:Based on current students talking about their schools it feels like UVA and Mich students LOVE going to their schools, whereas the other t10s are like... it's law school, I went to the best school I could.Like they're happy enough, but it was like 100% a business decision before anything else. Why are people attaching themselves to schools before the new rankings come out? Does this show how little the rankings matter, how little the rankings change, or something else?

The T14 are T14 for a reason. They've always been T14 and as far as they go, no one should really care about minute changes in ranking due to yearly variances in selectivity. Just my opinion.KME89 wrote:Why are people attaching themselves to schools before the new rankings come out? As someone who spends almost every weekend in Ann Arbor there is a reason for this. The culture of the area is fun and exciting. Everyone is just so damn happy and the library makes you want to melt and become one with the stained glassS.Picquery wrote:Based on current students talking about their schools it feels like UVA and Mich students LOVE going to their schools, whereas the other t10s are like... it's law school, I went to the best school I could.Like they're happy enough, but it was like 100% a business decision before anything else. What about those deciding on schools not in the T14? The people making the decision to go to a T2 where the rankings sometimes do change year-to-year?Nightwing wrote:The T14 are T14 for a reason. I hope NYU doesn't top CLS in the rankings during my 3 years of law school. Too much shit talking will happen in NYC

Not sure about those, but I imagine location plays a much bigger role for those people. Maybe they're attached to specific schools because of where they want to practice coupled with existing scholarship offers.KME89 wrote:What about those deciding on schools not in the T14? Was surprised that my state (Kansas) ranked as solid middle-of-the-pack. The Sub-40's economy and government is apt though.airwrecka wrote:Minnesota #3! WHADUPP!Dodocogon wrote:https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings

While rankings obviously correlate with job prospects, employment data is far and away the most important data point to look at IMO. This numbers aren't going to change drastically from year to year.KME89 wrote:Why are people attaching themselves to schools before the new rankings come out? And tbh, neither are the rankings

Yeah, I feel like the only thing you have to worry about if you're at a regional school is just being at the best in that region, and then being the best 10% of the best school of that region.Nightwing wrote:Not sure about those, but I imagine location plays a much bigger role for those people. Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants
I would bet that all of the schools that are waiting to give me a decision are doing so because I took the Feb. LSAT. Which sucks because I told them not to wait for it, but I guess the school has to do what is in their best interest as well. The lower ranked schools that I'm waiting on need to protect their yield, and the higher ranked ones might want to avoid putting me on the WL until they know for sure that my LSAT isn't higher

And even that's not going to change much based on usnrw. FSU is posed to tie/jump UF in the next few years, doesn't mean uf suddenly won't be the best in the regionS.Picquery wrote:Yeah, I feel like the only thing you have to worry about if you're at a regional school is just being at the best in that region, and then being the best 10% of the best school of that region.Nightwing wrote:Not sure about those, but I imagine location plays a much bigger role for those people.
