Heads up - no perspective law student should go into the Vale of Tears thread in the Legal Employment section. So scary. I regret going on it so much.

Anyone planning on going to the Boston LSAC forum? I've seen mixed reviews about the helpfulness of these forums on here.

Whats you take on those 3Ls on there? Like are we all doomed to fail EVEN at a T6? Something is wrong.

Probably a really dumb question but I'll ask anyway. On my LSN when it shows you the % that was wait listed is it assumed that these people were ultimately rejected? If it says for example 3 people got in, 17 wait listed and 10 were rejected it gives you a 10% to get in but that seems to assume all 17 people that were wait listed were rejected. Appreciate any input.

I was going to post that question somewhere too...
Maybe that thread is just the unluckiest of the unluckiest in the T14? Like people who just constantly mess up interviews, are the bottom of their class, or send in resumes written in crayon?
Frankly, I expected that even if at the bottom your class at a T14 there should still be ample opportunities.

I was going to say I think so too. Like the whole thing with reviews and stuff right? You only really hear about those with bad experiences so it cannot be representative of the whole. But at that level, these seem like pretty top notch people, I mean they are on TLS!!!
But are we going to bet three years of our lives an about 10 years of bet on the fact that we MAY have some quality they do not?

I think most people on LSN who do get in from the waitlist would probably update it as such, and that would be considered an acceptance for the purposes of the percentage.Chipotle85 wrote:Probably a really dumb question but I'll ask anyway. I think the fact that 3-6 months of finding a good job after graduating seems like a complete disaster for them is indicative that things aren't THAT bad. They're much worse in other careers, I think.btruj777 wrote:I was going to say I think so too. Like the whole thing with reviews and stuff right? Most of them in that thread that came out of T14 seem to eventually find a job, though.

Watched oral arguments and had lunch with the Kansas Supreme Court justices today, was a pretty interesting experience. Nothing groundbreaking but was nice to talk with them.

I'm gaining momentum on ps but every time I get somewhere I get hit with severe loathing of what I just wrote. PSs in general just innately feel douchey to me

It seems to be the case that these PS tend to answer why law school is the next logical step

It was actually reading those that made me feel more icky about PSs. They have this like dirty, formulaic feeling of being a glorified cover letter. I get why it's like that though.

I read these when writing my PS and they helped my confidence and stopped my overthinking. Did anyone else think these essays were sort of....weak for such a highly ranked school as UChi? In that they were sort of cookie cutter/on the overdone side (9/11, injured athlete, etc)? Not to say that my PS was crazy good, but I was surprised when I read these as the school's examples, though I do think they helped me feel less nervous and write a better PS.

Yes
Then I realized that these (probably) all had 172s to go along with it

Yeah I read these too and had some way over-the-top drafts because of it. Ended up trashing those because they didn't feel genuine. I just did my best to write something honest and entertaining that spoke to the "why law school" question. But I still ended up hating it because I read it and edited it TOO MANY TIMES lolAssasindowntheavenue wrote:btruj777 wrote:NotAGolfer wrote:I felt the same way. OK, so I'm touring a t14 next week that I have not yet heard back from-- what's the deal on requesting a stipend?

So it'd hurt me if I asked, yeah? This is what I expected.
Another t14 that I will likely have been accepted to is on the way. Is it ethical to tour both and get a stipend from one of them?

I'm not sure if it would hurt you - it probably wouldn't - but I just can't imagine they'd give you anything and on the off chance it could hurt you, I just wouldn't ask.SweetTort wrote:guybourdin wrote:I would be surprised if any was offered pre-admission.SweetTort wrote:OK, so I'm touring a t14 next week that I have not yet heard back from-- what's the deal on requesting a stipend?

It's not unethical to visit a second school on the trip. Definitely do it if you have time. (If they're tracking your gas and you drive 2 hrs out of the way, then maybe itd be unethical to try and get them to pay for the detour, but just don't do that? you're fine tho!)
