Anyone get accepted 15-16 cycle with a 2.8/178 at T14
My lsac gpa is close to 2.8 and my LSAT is 178. On law school numbers I can only find 2-3 people with similar numbers and stats, so was just wondering, this past cycle did anyone apply with similar stats as me (2.8/178) and break the Top 14?

Instead of creating new thread, why don't you just bump the other thread you created that asks the same question?

Similar stats. Accepted at Georgetown, waitlisted at UVA and Michigan, and held at Northwestern. Your LSAT might buy you some more waitlist spots or bump the NW hold to an outright accept, but for the most part the GPA is going to be a big red flag on your application.
If you're KJD, it might be worse regardless, I have multiple years in leadership positions at a national non-profit, a military background, and work experience as well.

I got in off the waitlist at Penn with a 2.9/178. I have interesting softs, good letters, three years of work experience in a STEM field, and a personal connection to Penn. On the other hand, I applied pretty late in the cycle this year (mid-January). So it can and does happen, but it's hard to say "what you can expect" when you're talking about that intense of a split. I figure a lot probably depends on your ability to explain your GPA and what you've done since college to show that you're ready for law school.

A girl on 7sage got into Northwestern with a 2.74 and 170 LSAT with a 90k scholarship. She had a HYP undergrad degree and strong softs however.

Thanks for all the help and replies. Given the 2.8/178, the gpa is low, because I have had an autoimmune disease that necessitated hospitalization, and a couple semesters I didnt withdrawal. I petitioned for retroactive withdrawal at my school and was denied because the hospitalization occurred throughout the semester and not the last two weeks of the withdrawal deadline, in other words, you would have to prove there was some situation that made you miss the withdrawal deadline, and in my case, I was hospitalized through the semester, with the anticipation I could complete the semesters successfully, which didnt turn out to be. So the gpa is what it is. If I wrote that in my addendum, and I Early decisioned at UVA, Georgetown, or Northwestern, do you think I would have a fair chance given the 178 LSAT?

Nobody can give you much more info beyond what was already said. Its one of those instances where your results could be fantastic or utter disappointment and you won't really know till you apply.

Sorry we're heading a bit down a rabbit hole here, but do you mean your school forced you to fail classes and destroy your GPA because you basically got cancer at a time that was inconvenient for their pre-set schedule? That's insane.lawapplicant2017 wrote:Thanks for all the help and replies. You'd likely get into UVA ED... You probably wouldn't get NW ED because it comes with a 150k scholarship and you are probably not competitive solely due to your gpa. Georgetown is fickle with who they accept and deny so I would apply and see if I were you.

Thanks everyone for the help. TLS Dookie, thanks for your reply. My illness wasn't cancer, but necessitated hospitalizations, and no, the school didn't force me to get Fs, what I mean is, I was hospitalized much of the semester, but it was my fault that I didn't withdrawal at the deadline, because I thought I could catch up, but didn't, because then after the deadline I would have hospitalizations, so because the hospitalization wasn't during the course withdrawal deadline of the tenth week, and even though I missed much of the semester for a bonafide excuse, they wouldn't retroactive withdrawal, if that makes sense.

With that GPA, no T14 result is "likely", unfortunately. It's worth trying, but there is almost no way that UVA offers substantial scholly in that situation so just be ready to fork over some serious dough if you want to go for it.Goldchain wrote:You'd likely get into UVA ED...
