I'm planning to send an updated resume and go to an information session, but I'm sort of struggling to figure out what to write in an additional essay that would be meaningful. Do you all think an essay outlining why Penn could be useful at this point to emphasize enthusiasm or annoying since it was basically included in the optional essays?

I'd say it depends. You say you did the optional essays - did you clearly outline why UPenn in any of those essays?ChervonaKatya wrote:I'm planning to send an updated resume and go to an information session, but I'm sort of struggling to figure out what to write in an additional essay that would be meaningful. I think if the answer to that question is yes, don't bother with an essay. It may just be more annoying for admissions than not.
At this point, just showing your continued interest when updates from Penn come in, should be enough, since the waitlist is most likely ranked at this point (as per the email: We have already completed our review of all waitlisted applicants). As well as keeping Penn informed on recent accomplishments (additions to resume, increased GPA, etc).

Those are good points! Thanks! I could have done it more clearly, but it's there and a lot of what I would say would be similar to parts of my essays. I get the sense that we're not exactly ranked since 1) they said they don't do that and 2) ranking people is a huge headache with low payoff, but we're probably in pools based on characteristics (high GPA, high LSAT, Penn connection, x-factor, etc). My rationale of an essay was that it's one of the few things I can do that may have an impact on which pools I'm in and I get the sense that enthusiasm will become a bigger factor through the summer. Thanks for the feedback!Anonnonnon wrote: I'd say it depends. You say you did the optional essays - did you clearly outline why UPenn in any of those essays?

Pretty much accepted via a follow up email, without using explicit words. Expecting actual admission soon. There is no merit $ for people off the wait list so be ready to make tough decisions!

I have a meeting scheduled now too. Anybody have advice on what the format of the meeting might be? I spoke briefly with someone who did one a couple of years back and said he did most of the talking, but I'm curious what sort of discussion might actually go on.

Status Checker still listed as "Wait List" with the same decision date. I didn't sign up for a Wait List interview.
Phone Call was primarily why penn, what's current status, etc.
Good luck everyone!

I see from your profile you have been accepted/are riding out a few waitlists. Any idea what you're gonna go with?politicaljungle wrote:Got a call yesterday to gauge interest, asked me to call back today to confirm 100% that I would attend, was told I would get a decision hopefully tomorrow.
