Kentucky c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)

Post by Rtr1994 » Mon Dec 07, 2015 1:53 pm

Haven't seen a thread for this yet so I decided to start one. Anyone know what the turn around looks like for admissions decisions here?

They said they would re-review my files on 2/25 for a second time on early Feb, don't know whether I should consider it as waitlisted?

I'm in-state as well. They seemed willing to negotiate scholarship $. I received a sizeable scholarship and I want to practice in KY or surrounding states, so I will be attending in the Fall. Good luck!

I'm really interested in Kentucky as well, although I'll be attending from out of state. I really love the Kentucky area, and would ultimately be happy practicing there. If you don't mind me asking, When you negotiated, did you have offers from higher ranked schools?

I probably received less money than many out-of-staters with similar stats, however, my COA decreased dramatically given the discrepancy b/w in-state and out of state tuition costs. I did have some offers from higher ranked schools that I disclosed when asking for more scholarship money. I like the Lexington area. The law school seemed to be pretty old, but I was told by the administration that renovations to the building are coming in the following year. Staff/students seemed friendly and willing to help in any way possible. Also high employment stats after graduation (esp. in KY) was a plus in my decision making.

I didn't get any scholarships at all-- not even a fee waiver. I feel slightly cheated, but my numbers aren't that great (adjustment to college was rough). It's still the cheapest option for me though.

Yea, I don't know if it's worth it for me to try and negotiate. My original offer is actually quite generous. I have offers for higher ranked schools, but not with scholarships that would make it cheaper than Kentucky, so I'm guessing they won't have too much leverage.

Will any of you guys be attending the admitted students day in a few weekends?

Has anyone decided that they are for sure attending Kentucky?

Went to the open house today, it was definitely different from the other admitted days I've been to! Super nice people though!!

I was at the open house as well. Will probably be attending in the fall. I received offers to higher ranked schools, however, I'm a KY resident, plan on practicing in or around KY, and received scholarship on top of cheap in-state tuition so it made sense to choose UK.
